Overall Satisfaction with Trend Micro Cloud App Security

We are using Trend Micro Cloud App Security across our entire organization to help protect against potential threats in our hosted workloads that may not pass through our email security gateway or reside directly on an endpoint where they can be detected by our other antivirus and endpoint protection software.
  • Protects critical workloads like Microsoft 365 and Dropbox.
  • Centralized dashboard for monitoring and management.
  • Can detect pre-existing threats in end-user workloads such as Exchange Online mailboxes.
  • Spam removal is enabled by default for Exchange Online protection policies. This can cause confusion when Cloud App Security is used in conjunction with the spam protection functionality provided by Trend Micro Hosted Email Security.
  • CAS gives us peace of mind knowing the file systems we rely on in the cloud are protected the same way they would be if they were sitting in our office. This leads to a reduced risk of downtime that could otherwise limit us from being able to properly support our customers.
We have not yet needed to engage Trend Micro support for this particular product.

Trend Micro Cloud App Security is relatively simple to implement, with most of the complexity coming from the integration with the third-party workloads you are aiming to protect. The policies are easy to customize and logs are easy to analyze. Alerts and reporting both go to the same centralized management console as the other Trend Micro-hosted products.
Trend Micro CAS is especially useful for protecting hosted workloads such as SharePoint Online when you have a medium-to-large organization with a lot of unknowns, including both employees and external guest users who have the potential to (knowingly or not) upload threats and put the rest of your organization and data at risk.
