Overall Satisfaction with TriNet

We use TriNet as a PEO, handling benefits, payroll, HR Consulting. All staff us the TriNet portal to make there benefits choices and manage their info from a log-in. Here they also manage flexible spending accounts, taxes, payroll deductions, 401K, even options like pet insurance, legal assistance, the Employee assistance program and more.
  • Providing a large menu of benefits offerings from which employees can choose what is important to them individually.
  • Providing an online portal where the employee can manage their options as self-service anytime, anywhere
  • When the Company received letters re: employee issues, TriNet knows what actions we need to take and consults with us.
  • The employee PTO request system is complicated for employees as well as for the payroll manager. The system does not adjust to schedules outside of Mon-Fri 9-5 and it is challenging to train staff how to finagle the system.
  • The medical benefits are expensive. This may be more of an issue with the overall health system in the U.S. than TriNet.
  • It would be great to have a user that could have full admin functions with the exception of seeing salaries. Because of this, I have to ask one other person to run reports for me.
Now the customer service is excellent. We had to change our client service rep because the first was not responsive. However the issue was addressed and remedied quickly.
It's good, but could use improvements in tracking PTO. For instance, it allows user error. A user can put in dates that overlap a weekend or holiday and the system takes those days as hours of PTO, when it should pop up and say that these are already days off. It also needs the capability for an admin to add alternative schedules to Mon-Fri, and alternatives to 5-day schedules. Some of our team work 3 days on, 3 days off.
  • Improved payroll accuracy
  • Helped us stay HR compliant
  • Address employee satisfaction to monitor their own benefits and info
We just started with TriNet 2 years ago and we don't want to confuse employees by changing so fast. Plus we are satisfied except for the cost of healthcare benefits.
Providing benefits for a small company. Helping an HR department of one manage HR with professional, knowledgeable back-up. Handling payroll. Providing a phone number and chat option for employees to ask questions outside of regular business hours.

Using TriNet

2 - HR Specialist and Operations Director. But actually all employees are Users for their individual account maintenance. HR Specialist uses TriNet to enter payroll. Operations Director uses it to onboard new hires and generate reports.
1 - Just one, the HR Specialist provides customer service to employees. TriNet has it's own 1-800 number for customer support as well as a great chat option to get quick answers. One bonus is that the TriNet Solution center is available for employees until midnight and starting very early in the day.
  • Payroll
  • A menu of benefits options
  • HR consulting
  • To store employee info in a safe, easy to use format
  • reports function
  • The TriNet solution center call line and chat box helps alot with workload
  • Expenses
  • ATS
  • Personal Expense Report Direct Deposit
The only issue is that benefits are very expensive, however this may be an issue with the current cost of health care in the U.S. more so than TriNet. In that case, we would stay with TriNet if we cannot find a better pricing on quality benefits.

Evaluating TriNet and Competitors

  • Price
  • Product Features
  • Vendor Reputation
  • Third-party Reviews
Having a menu of Benefits options plus customer service support for individual users was key. The cost was high, but we could not find anything cheaper for a small company with robust benefits.
Find out more about Benefits costs in the various markets where we have employees. The cost is very different is various geographical areas. Again, this may be due to the cost of health care in different areas of the U.S., so using another company may not change that.

TriNet Implementation

unknown-I was not here then
  • I was not at this company when that occurred.

TriNet Support

ProsCons

Knowledgeable team
Problems get solved
No escalation required
Immediate help available
Support understands my problem
Support cares about my success
Quick Initial Response
Not kept informed
Yes - Partly. PTO accruing seems to be an ongoing issue. Sometimes it is caused by user error and sometimes by admin error. Sometimes by the system itself. I wish it were more simple and user friendly. It is very challenging to train individual users to use it correctly. There is lots of room for user error.
When we have had complicated HR issues, TriNet is amazing with providing support on best practices and compliance.

Yes - Pretty good for the individual user portal. Not useful for company admin functions.
