  • Capability and Technology Management (formerly Troux)

Overall Satisfaction with Planview Enterprise One (formerly Planview Enterprise and Troux)

It's used as consolidation repository of multiple cmdb systems, IT dependency maps, business capabilities and business continuity data.

It is used by primarily by different IT departments.

Use cases to provide an accurate source for application data to support big transformation projects, provide insight regarding cost and licenses, determine risk on applications level to the business and IT Enterprise Data Warehouse.

  • Foremost it's best Meta Model (Object and Relationship definition and structure).
  • Roadmap planning with As-Is and To-Be state including analysis between states
  • ETL capabilities in conjunction with Stale Data Processing. it's keeps the data accurate and up to date.
  • The combination of a modeling tool, Web UI's and central repository
  • Configuration and modification of the Web UI's is really technical.
  • No proper development IDE which include web layouts, portals, workflow and reports.
  • All the parts are there to make it a development platform aka force.com or ServiceNow
  • Some outdated Web UIs
  • Modeling tool only works on Windows.
  • Lacks proper plug-ins to cmdb repositories
  • Quicker impact and IT data analysis do you a central repository. Faster then sending out inventory lists for managers to fill in about IT systems.
  • Better insight into under-used systems or licenses, ideal candidates for cost reduction
  • Hard to indicate ROI, it speeds up different use cases which are not known upfront.
  • ARIS Business Process Management (BPM)
Troux has the most complete and up-to-date feature set, which also includes the ADM cycle of Togaf. It's designed for Strategic and Tactical IT planning and managing IT portfolios. In certain cases other products only cover one aspect while Troux covers all the aspects in a holistic view and integrated repository.

Best suited for Strategic and Tactical IT data to provide the ability to manage IT data in different portfolios, but also to perform analysis on the data.

Business capability modeling gives great insight on how IT supports the business in the current state but also in the future state of IT.

Don't use it as a operational tool. It not a cmdb, but it uses abstract cmdb data.
