Overall Satisfaction with Turbonomic (formerly VMTurbo)
Turbonomic is used across our entire VM environment which is used by multiple business units and includes development practices along with infrastructure servers. This software solves VMware Server host density by monetizing (assigning value) to each resource and creating a marketplace. This adds a much-needed performance metric to VMware's existing DRS feature.
- Aligns VMs depending on compute metrics to increase VMware density per host, alleviating needs to purchase hardware at a high right.
- Provides rich detailed reporting about storage IOPS per VM.
- Provides a rich forecasting feature to be able to fully provision a VMware environment to ensure right-sizing for any project.
- The times that VMturbo generates data can be shortened, which can be tuned after, but is not immediately available. This is to not over stress an environment.
- The GUI is good, but can always be improved and streamlined, however, it does work perfectly.
- We don't see the need to purchase new servers as long as all VMs have adequate resources.
- We can predict how much new purchases to make given any new additional workload requests.
We have added automation to our environment and allowed Turbonomic to make decisions alongside of VMware DRS in the placement of workloads.
There are no alternatives to Turbonomic on the market.. All other software that is comparable, only monitors VMs, then alerts. turbonomic actually automates and has the ability to make predictable decisions within VMware.

No - Support is universal, there are no levels, ie premium or standard or gold or platinum..
We needed assistance running reports. The reports were taking excruciatingly long time to run. We opened a case, and the issue was resolved almost momentarily. We were able to run our reports and give them to direct management within a day. It was a great experience even when there was a small issue with the software, it was handled immediately..
