We are using it to analyze hardware resource usage and use the reports to plan growth.

VM Resource usage
Capacity Planning
Auto migration/DRS for VM environment

Plans could be simpler to run.
Some quirks in reports, though not a huge issue, but could be annoying at times.

Return on Investment

Positive impact on budgeting for next year, provides a very quick plan on how much additional resources needs to be in place.

Managing Virtual / Cloud Environments with IBM Turbonomic

We haven't deployed full automation due to restrictions on boundaries, but a hybrid case of manual review of suggestions made by turbonomics before implementing. since it is a relatively small environment, its provides us still the direct insight without causing us to spend too much time on it.

Alternatives Considered

VRop

It's a lot more intuitive, much cheaper and a lot less of a resource hog

VMware vCenter Server, OpenDNS Umbrella Web Filtering, Sourcefire Firewalls

Likelihood to Recommend

VMWare environment/resource analyzer is great, also the Auto Migration/DRS works wonderfully when the boundaries are set properly. Dashboard gives a good quick picture of environment.
