Overall Satisfaction with Ubuntu Linux

For software development, we use Ubuntu Linux, which helps us create new features, solve bugs, etc.
  • Very fast when you need to do experiments
  • Lightweight
  • User friendly when you have little knowledge of how to use the terminal
  • Open source
  • It crashes sometimes, so it could be made more robust
  • Sometime difficult while installing software
  • Brightness problem in Ubuntu Linux 20.10
  • We can train ML models easily
  • No licencing issues
  • SSH facility for remote work
  • We can perform things fast
  • Minimum time wasted in software installations
  • Sometimes it may be difficult if an employee has never used it in past
Sometimes I also use Linux CentOS but Ubuntu Linux is widely used, so software and other debugging guides are easily available on the web for Ubuntu Linux. It's also very easy to install Ubuntu Linux on new system and have it running in no time. Also, graphics of Ubuntu Linux are improving in new releases, and that's a good thing.

Do you think Ubuntu delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Ubuntu's feature set?

Yes

Did Ubuntu live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Ubuntu go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Ubuntu again?

Yes

If you have knowledge of how to use terminal, then you can complete work very very fast. Sometime the user may feel like they need a better UI. That is a problem because that new user might hesitate to start using Ubuntu Linux. But every good thing has a learning curve, so learning and using it is worth your time.
