Overall Satisfaction with Unitrends Data Center Backup and Recovery

We use Unitrends to backup all of our Physical Servers across our entire organization. We use it to address the need for Business Continuity. All the backups are both on premise and are off loaded to the cloud.
  • Backup
  • Off Site Storage
  • simplicity of operation
  • Restoring from a backup
  • User Interface
  • Backup Management without Support
  • Allowed for Full recovery of our Exchange Server
  • Chaff Emails
  • Hard to derive the failures with out support.

Do you think Unitrends delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Unitrends's feature set?

Yes

Did Unitrends live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Unitrends go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Unitrends again?

No

I think Unitrends leaves a lot to be desired from a user interface. Their GUI is not very intuitive and does not follow Windows File Structure very well. It is hard to Navigate to where you want to go. When I attempt to adjust the Retention or the Backup Schedule I have to Google how to do it or call into support.
Unitrends does a good job backing up servers from both a full image backup to specific files or folders. I don't think it works well with MS SQL Server backups out of the box. I experience issues with it correctly backing up the log files.

Using Unitrends Data Center Backup and Recovery

1 - We use Unitrends to back up our Physical servers and then backup to Unitrends Cloud. It allows us to backup our SQL databases and all of our DNS, Active Directory, Terminal Services and File Servers. It makes things easy for us to not worry about multiple backup servers to move things off site.
