Overall Satisfaction with Unitrends Recovery Series Backup Appliance
Unitrends Recovery was a replacement to a simple online cloud solution used by my company. Critical systems and file servers are now backed up with reliability.
- Bare metal backups are wonderful, this process has been tested and proves to be an excellent feature.
- The GUI is simple to use better then most.
- The restore ability is exceptional.
- Expand on the recovery of files process.
- Better remote administration of agents.
- Broad search options, using less information to pull back more results.
- Utilizing Unitrends added backups to all systems where no backups were defined.
- SQL was not backed up efficiently, Untrends passed muster with both DBAs and infrastructure as the product of choice for SQL.
- Unstructured data runs rampant de-duplication - it's a life savior.
Unitrends is appliance based, did not want to have to purchase tape library and subscribe to local vaulting. Unitrends cloud and appliance came in cheaper and better recommended then the competitors.

2 - Previous backup and recovery experience. Prefer experience with backup appliance and cloud based backups. 3 to 5 years experience within IT understanding the importance of backups and vaulting ( Data retention) PCI and other industry understanding a huge plus.

Price was the single most important factor. Unitrends came well under the competitor.
If possible I would ask for more time with the cloud based part of the product, more use would have made it better to work with.

Yes - In short you get what you pay for, in a business critical environment you need fast results.
The only time I have had to call support was during a backup failure. They responded in 2 hours were ready to remote in and support the appliance, recommended a fix that worked and closed out the ticket. Could not ask for better response. Excellent.
