Overall Satisfaction with Unitrends Recovery Series Backup Appliance
The Unitrends appliance currently performs backups of all the data that is located onsite. The appliance does a local copy and also a replication offsite. This is our disaster recovery plan if something such as CryptoLocker or physical damage happens to our servers. This allows us to have peace of mind and to recover to an alternate location if needed.
- Fast recovery of data. Since it's stored locally on disk drives, the restore process is very fast.
- Easy to use user interface. Less confusion when working with the system.
- Small foot print. Our device is only 1U and takes up minimal space in our data center.
- Setting up the schedules. It was a bit confusing, but we had the Unitrends techs set it up initially so they took care of it.
- We had a CyrptoLocker attack that started encrypting all the files on our network. With the speed of recovery of the unitrend appliance we were able to restore everything in less than 24 hours.
- The cost savings compared to other backup solutions were significant. We started seeing a savings after 3 months of implementation.
- Places the ownership of backup and recovery in the hands of local IT. This allows better control of the process, better reporting of how the backups are going and faster turnaround if a recovery is needed.
I find that the Unitrends appliance to have a more integrated interface that is very easy to use. There is less complications and and strange errors that do not mean anything. Also, if you do have an issue, tech support is easily able to connect via the support tunnel and see what is going on.
