Overall Satisfaction with Unitrends Recovery Series Backup Appliance

We use Unitrends for our nightly back up and weekly archival strategy. The disk to disk back up makes backing up our VMWare cluster seamless.

Pros

  • Simple User interface that was recently resigned and is even more easy to use than the last.
  • Quick efficient support.
  • Hassle free backup jobs. Just set the device and forget it it. It sends emails to let you know if there were any problems.

Cons

  • It could be easier to connect to legacy systems. In particular, the AS/400 or iSeries from IBM proved difficult to configure.
  • Prepaid maintenance that included scheduled hardware replacement helped sell keeping the unit covered by maintenance.
Unitrends Recovery Series Backup works really well with backing up virtual machines in a VMWare environment.
