Overall Satisfaction with Unitrends Recovery Series Backup Appliance
Being in the healthcare field, we have specific requirements for retention of our critical business data. Our Unitrends appliances are used company-wide to ensure that our business practices are maintained. From backing up simple file servers, to more complex database servers, or even complete virtual machines, our Recovery Series appliances serve our complete on-site and off-site disaster recovery needs.
- Building and maintaining a disaster recovery strategy for virtual machines is as easy as it can get. We quite literally, in under an hour, set up a backup schedule for approximately 50 virtual machines across our locations and the Recovery Series appliances has never failed to maintain this schedule.
- With the advent of the new Unitrends interface, tasks have gotten even simpler. With only a few mouse-clicks, entire servers can be backed up and restored. We especially like how easy it is to find a particular backup that you wish to recover from.
- I would like to see more of the "classic" interface features ported over to the new GUI. While I'm sure the backup schedules that can be created on the new interface are perfectly adequate for most, I prefer the more advanced scheduling routine in the classic interface.
- Our cloud based hot-copy scheduling has been hit or miss. Some of our protected assets replicate just perfectly, while other continue to fail. This does not appear to be a problem with the appliance themselves, but rather the hosted side of the equation.
- When we have had to contact Unitrends for support on our appliance, resolution times have been hit or miss.
- We have experienced no critical environment failures since our introduction of the Unitrends appliances, but we have had numerous accounts of employees deleting that "critical" file that they have worked so long on. What used to take IT hours of SAN based snapshot recovery, mounting, copying and destruction, now takes mere seconds.
- By offering backup copies at multiple locations, we meet our business requirements.
Quite simply, there is no comparison. All of the other "solutions" had horrendous interfaces with arcane technology.
