Overall Satisfaction with Unitrends Recovery Series Backup Appliance
Our Unitrends appliance is used to back up all critical data in the district. It backs up user profiles, Active Directory, multiple testing/assessment servers, and even our student information system. When looking for a product, we needed: (a) the ability to back up multiple servers, (b) the ability to spin up a temporary image in the event a device went down, (c) adequate storage space to grow, and (d) something that was easy to use and effortless to manage.
- Very easy to set up.
- Very easy (almost effortless, frankly) to manage.
- Reliable and predictable--it never surprises us with unknown issues or sudden problems, which means we can trust it.
- Wish it were a little easier to expand.
- Prevented a major issue when we had a server suffer a complete hardware failure. We spun up the Unitrends and got back to work.
- Snapshot helped us when we had a bad accident with Group Policy.

While I can't remember all the different appliances we reviewed--and it was quite a list--Unitrends stuck out because it fit the key features we were looking for. The ease of use and sit-it-and-forget-it are still my personal favorite parts of owning a Unitrends. Why have a backup appliance of this power if it requires constant babysitting?
