Overall Satisfaction with Unitrends Recovery Series Backup Appliance

It's a small company. It's being used for all backups and archiving in conjunction with ExaGrid devices. It moved us from a tape solution to a disk based solution.

Pros

  • Ease of deployment
  • Management of backup jobs
  • Detailed reporting and alerting
  • Set-it and forget it config

Cons

  • Exchange granular restore direct to mailbox
  • Ease of finding backups for restoring in GUI
  • Concerned about data retention and available space.
Ease of deployment as an appliance. Integrated application with device. Excellent support.
Be sure to properly scale requirements based on storage and retention. I never find this easy or direct.
