Overall Satisfaction with Unitrends Recovery Series Backup Appliance
Unitrends is used for backup and disaster recovery across our entire organization. It is storing incrementals at intervals between 15 minutes and 24 hours (depending on the system being backed up). Additionally, we have collocated appliances so that data can be replicated offsite. Unitrends allows us to remain compliant with various healthcare IT regulations and easily maintain our data for business continuity.
- The system is built on a very intuitive and user-friendly interface. This allows us to "set it and forget it" for most operations.
- Recovering data is a simple and fast process. We have recovered data ranging from the file level to entire server rebuilds without incident.
- We believe that Unitrends is an industry leader in backup technology. The speed, reliability, and deduplication capabilities of the system are important to use.
- Unitrends offers excellent support. When we have needed assistance, it has been offered in a courteous, professional, and knowledgeable fashion.
- If there is a way to test the backups and generate reports attesting to the same, we have not discovered it. We would really like to be able to prove, in real time, (e.g. to an auditor) that we have stable backups.
- Unitrends has allowed us to recover a number of files, some of which were critical in nature.
- Unitrends allowed us to restore our entire corporate database (containing absolutely vital data) following a failed upgrade to the SQL server.
For us the cost, simplicity of use, system design, and features of the Unitrends system all matched up well to our organization's needs. They were products with more robust feature sets, but the cost was prohibitive. And, there were less expensive alternatives. But, they tended to be complicated or lack the requisite flexibility.
