An excellent option for small-to-medium tenants

We needed the ability to backup our Microsoft Office 365 tenant data since Microsoft does not guarantee recovery. Veeam was the product chosen for its ease of use & on-premise storage capability. We have used Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 for just over two years with no issues. We take backups of our Exchange Online, Teams, Sharepoint Online, and OneDrive environments to on-premise storage nightly and it's been very easy to monitor & maintain.

Microsoft makes plain in their terms & conditions that you, as the consumer, are responsible for data protection. Microsoft does not guarantee in any way the fidelity of your data.

We have been fortunate to not experience a data loss incident as of yet in our O365 tenant. But we test restores yearly for all O365 services using small amounts of data and have never had a failure.

The ability to restore to local storage has been a safety valve for us in case of "cloud regret". We can quickly migrate our users' data and storage back to on-premise servers in a reasonable timeframe vs. relying on Microsoft or other labor intensive methods.

The relatively small footprint, on-premise storage, and ease of monitoring has made Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 a valuable tool in supporting our enterprise cloud migration.
