Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365

Veeam 365 Backup is being used by our company to backup all mailboxes, SharePoint sites and OneDrive accounts. We moved into the cloud back in 2017 and have always felt more comfortable having a copy of our data in-house so this product was just the ticket! We use Veeam Backup and Recovery for our internal VMWare infrastructure and are very happy with the support we get.
  • Single item restore
  • Simplicity of removing individual accounts
  • Faster Backups - This is a 365 throyttling thing but some days one backup can run another
  • Refreshing the application - it's not until i reload the app that i can see the backup has completed
  • Fully covered our 365-days of backup objective
We fully researched O365 and understood its limitations from the beginning. We were never going to trust one company to keep our data safe and so we looked into Veeam's offering before moving. There was also a need to keep our backup solution simple. We already had Veeam Backup and Recovery and were able to just add the product to the same server and same repository.
The interface is very straight forward to use. There aren't 1000 buttons everywhere, just the ones you need along the top that change depending on where you have clicked on the main page. The error messages are fairly straight forward to understand, and if not then the forums\support will help you.
We haven't yet had to deal with any major data losses but we will regularly have to restore files or specific emails for end-users. The process is so quick we always get a happy caller regarding how fast they got their data back.
One Caller had deleted an entire folder from their one-drive account, then deleted their second-stage recycle bin. Because we kept daily backups running for 1 year we were able to get it back pretty quickly once we knew the day it had happened.
We benefit from the ability to export emails to a PST. If a line manager wants to see emails from a staff members mailbox or specific folder in their mailbox, it's often quicker to grab them from Veeam, export to PST and pass the file over.

We also use this to archive data from ex-employees
1. Top notch support
2. Simple Interface
3. Being able to access backup jobs long after their original backup job has gone. Sometimes you need to start a new backup job and remove the old one. Providing you keep the actual data in the repository, you can use the in-built explorers to open these files.
Ne never tested any other products. Being so happy with the original B&R we decided to give Veeam 365 Backup a go once we looked into it and discovered that it was able to do what we needed it to do.
They have always resolved our issues within a day of raising the fault. The only other company i can say that has that high of a resolution turnaround for us is VMWare. Very knowledgable, you don't get the sense (like you do with many other companies) that your initial contact is the 1st line support guy who doesn't know much more than "Have you tried switching it off and on again"! We have once been passed along but it was swiftly sorted soon after.

If you're looking to have a copy of your data on-premises from Office 365 then this is a no-brainer. You're unlikely to see your data simply disappear in the cloud but restoring a single item due to user deletion is still very involved with Data Loss prevention policies etc. In a few clicks you can have an email someone deleted last week back in their inbox.
