Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Backup & Replication

It is used for saving the data from the whole family and our company. We make backups from our onedrive accounts, as well as from the local NAS. We put the backups to a DLT-tapedrive and to a second NAS. Up to now there were no problems. It took a while configuring it the first time, but now it will replace the former backup solution from another company.
  • Virtualized workloads
  • Endpoints and physical servers running Windows & Linux
  • NAS filers
  • In addition to back up, we also replicate some of these workloads
  • Cloud-hosted VMs within AWS or Azure
  • Capacity Tier to store data within object storage for longer term retention
  • Immutable storage to protect against ransomware
  • Immutable storage to protect against ransomware
  • Works without hassle.
  • Clear and easy user interface when you have got it.
  • More intuitive first time installation.
  • Backup to ftp server.
I use the solution eactly for the desired workloads.
  • Works a lot better as expected.
I got a recommendation from a partner. Before this I used another backup solution which is also capable of doing backups to a FTP server. But because VEEAM does a better job on saving data to tape, it got the preferred solution.
No, we currently do not backup data from cloud storage directly.
Yes, we backup data from our NAS. But that's the minimum I expect from a backup solution.
It's well suited for backing up data to tape, but lacks a tape use strategy like "towers of hanoi" or similar. Restore of files is not as intuitive as it could be at the first sight. You have to use it frequently to get used to the user interface. It is not really simple to give it to a normal user.
