Veeam Backup & Replication
Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Backup & Replication
We utilize Veeam Backup & Replication at our data center to take nightly backups of our servers without significant impact on the performance of the environment. We are able to take backups at our primary data center. We also securely send a copy to our DR site should we need to spin that up. All of this while being able to encrypt the backups. I also use the Veeam community edition to backup my personal devices with the same confidence and similar interface I am used to in our enterprise. Veeam Backup & Replication allows us to easily back up multiple TBs of data in less than our allowable window. With the built-in snapshotting feature, we don't have to be concerned with referencial integrity.
- Virtualized workloads
- Cloud-hosted VMs within AWS or Azure
- In addition to back up, we also replicate some of these workloads
- None of the above
- “Instant” recovery or portability between platforms (physical > virtual > cloud-hosted)
- GFS implementation
- Reporting
- Encryption
- Speed
- Referential integrity through snapshotting VMs
- Meet RTO
- Meet RPO
- Reliability
- Ease of file level restore
- File level restore to alternate location
- Realtime backup

Did Veeam Data Platform live up to sales and marketing promises?
Yes
Did implementation of Veeam Data Platform go as expected?
Yes
Would you buy Veeam Data Platform again?
Yes
22 virtual workloads (VMs and applications), and 2 physical workloads. This is less than anticipated. We have not redeployed our HA servers for extra redundancy, load balancing, and lower RTO. I also use Veeam Backup & Replication for backing up certain workstations. Similar interface and workflow.
- We easily meet our backup window with time to spare, even with full encryption and over WAN.
- We are unable to meet our RTO due to the time Veeam Backup & Replication takes to restore our environment.
Moved to Veeam Backup & Replication when forced to change Managed Hosting solution due to a ransomware attack on the storage at another vendor. We are now moving to Zerto as a solution to meet our RPO and RTO needs while also adding an additional backup site. We will still use Veeam Backup & Replication for nightly and GFS archives.
Not yet. We are just now deploying an Azure solution as a tertiary site and plan to use Zerto to keep that site in sync. This gives us an immutable copy protecting us from various methods of data loss and real-time replication for quick failover without having to do a full restore.
We have not. We migrated our NAS/File-share to SharePoint and Egnyte. We use Barracuda as a cost-effective method of backing up SharePoint. We looked into Veeam Backup & Replication for this solution but found hosting and management of it more cumbersome than our existing solution.
