Veeam Backup & Replication

Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Backup & Replication

We run a couple of Hyper-V machines and use VEEAM Backup & Replication Enterprise to do the Backups to disc and then to tape. We had s lot of machines with different desires, and we wanted a solution, that can handle them all at once. Now we moved some machines into the cloud and Veeam can also help here.
  • Virtualized workloads
  • Endpoints and physical servers running Windows & Linux
  • Cloud-hosted VMs within AWS or Azure
  • Enterprise applications such as Oracle or SAP HANA
  • NAS filers
  • Application-centric recovery using Veeam Explorers (for Exchange, SQL, Sharepoint, etc)
  • Automating test restores to validate recoverability
  • “Instant” recovery or portability between platforms (physical > virtual > cloud-hosted)
  • Application-centric recovery using Veeam Explorers (for Exchange, SQL, Sharepoint, etc)
  • Backup of Hyper-V machines
  • Restore of single files from a VM
  • Restore of a whole VM
  • Not at the moment

Yes

Did implementation of Veeam Data Platform go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Veeam Data Platform again?

Yes

We bought the software to backup 1 system for a customer. But when we realized how nice this software is, we tried it to replace Backup Exec and were totally flashed how easy it was compared to the old system. We use it to backup 15 Hyper-V Machines and the Cluster.
  • Less time doing backups
  • Less time for a restore
As said before, we had Veeam for a client system and were pleased with how good it was. So we tested it with our Hyper-V environment and decided to switch from Symantec Backup Exec.
At the moment we are not using the online solutions, but we definitely will in the future to backup Azure systems.
We are not using it, because we have a fileserver which is a VM. We do a backup of this machine and can also do easy recoveries this way.
I can only tell what I experienced and I definitely like the single file restore option. You just browse the backup file from a specific day and select the file. Then you can restore it and everyone is happy. I don't have any idea what and where it is nor appropriate, but there might be some cases.
