Veeam Backup & Replication

Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Backup & Replication

Veeam is the software responsible for our ease of mind, we use it on all our sites for some years now and it is so solid and efficient that is the only infrastructure element that we do not lay a finger on, apart from updates, which we also blindly do due to the fact no issues were presented whatsoever, ever. We use it to backup all our infrastructure both locally and on remote site NASes daily, and in some cases for mission-critical services even every 10 minutes without even a glitch. Restores are a breeze and never had integrity issues. We use file level restore very often in both windows and Linux systems as well as email (exchange) and database level( not very often) The systems were tested in disaster recovery situations in order to restore servers in new hardware and hypervisor without any issues whatsoever. Even the community edition has no features cut (at least for our needs) except the VM number it can process. Overall great software and great support! Thank you VEEAM!
  • Virtualized workloads
  • Enterprise applications such as Oracle or SAP HANA
  • In addition to back up, we also replicate some of these workloads
  • Cloud-hosted VMs within AWS or Azure
  • Application-centric recovery using Veeam Explorers (for Exchange, SQL, Sharepoint, etc)
  • Automating test restores to validate recoverability
  • “Instant” recovery or portability between platforms (physical > virtual > cloud-hosted)
  • Application-centric recovery using Veeam Explorers (for Exchange, SQL, Sharepoint, etc)
  • Reliable and fast backup
  • Portability and flexibility or restore options
  • Great scalability
  • Excelent stability
  • Ability to run on the Linux platform

Yes

Did implementation of Veeam Data Platform go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Veeam Data Platform again?

Yes

We started out covering only some critical machines and coming from VDP of VMWare we thought we couldn't handle more. But gradually we included all our infrastructure some 30 VMs of which 10 are replicated on remote sites and 5 have application-level backups. It is more than we ever imagined when we tested and finally purchased the software.
  • ROI is excellent, we saved a lot in hardware and time
  • We have a solid base for disaster recovery
  • We have minimized the time to restore files or even whole servers
  • We do not worry about data integrity anymore as we have multiple sites where the data is replicated to
We have been using for some years VDP replication, which had a lot of issues and was highly unreliable for our environment. We tested out some software both free and paid but all had their quirks. When we tested the Veeam community we were surprised by how an easy experience it was and how fast we would get results! Thus it was natural for us to go on and purchase the full software. Never looked back since.
We currently do not have any cloud services thus we do not use them.
We do not use it for such scenarios.
The best way to use VEEAM is to have it handle your VM backups automatically. You only need to specify well what aspects of each workload you need to focus on (file level, application objects backup) and a good retention policy and you forget to review it again. It is also very efficient and fast when working with remote backups, its deduplication capabilities amazed me!
