Overall Satisfaction with Veritas Backup Exec
I consult with multiple companies that at some point in time had Veritas Backup Exec setup as their backup software on their servers.
- Backing up files that are in use.
- Backing up Exchange Server databases.
- Backing up SharePoint Server Websites.
- Veritas's memory usage is exorbitant - one of the most memory intensive applications running on the server.
- Cluttered interface.
- Slow to backup.
- I have had to replace Veritas Backup Exec on multiple clients servers due to unsuccessful restores of valuable data.
- Many 'failed' backups when there was no apparent reason for the failure to occur.
- Veeam Backup & Replication, Seagate Cloud Disaster Recovery Service, Carbonite Backup for Microsoft Office 365, IDrive and Google Cloud Datastore
I chose Veritas Backup Exec for my clients Windows Servers about 15 to 20 years ago because that was the ONLY backup software available at the time.
Since then, [I feel] the software has gotten bloated, unreliable and cluttered.
Veeam Backup & Replication is much more streamlined, much faster, much more reliable, makes Bare-Metal Restore a breeze and just works - and costs A Lot less!
