Vertex Review from a Procurement

I think the configurability has been appropriate for our company. We have been able to set up some specific scenarios where we want or don't want use tax assessed and they have worked effectively. There is an element of creativity to finding a solution for your company's specific needs. One thought is that the more work it is to customize and configure, the harder it is to pass once the person that built the configuration has left the company.

Since we use Vertex only on the procurement side, I will speak from this perspective. Vertex is very useful for a company that has a large number of material purchase invoices each month. It is useful to take the tax decision out of the accounts payable department and back with the tax department. Then you can train AP on selecting correct tax categories rather than the taxability itself. Vertex is less useful on the procurement side for a small company that can handle use tax accruals manually.
