Vertex Indirect Tax O Series
Overall Satisfaction with Vertex
We currently use Vertex O Series for tax determinations on both sales and purchases. The biggest issue addressed on the sales side by our O Series implementation is the exemption certificate management. We have a fully integrated ECM so the Tax Department has taken control of certificate acceptance and configuration.
- The use of ECM to support exempt sales to customers.
- The flexibility of Data Extracts to retrieve and analyze data for almost any situation.
- O Series has been crucial in making accurate tax determinations based on usage at all of our locations.
- For a North American license the host system can assign an international address but Vertex will not process the transaction.
- I United States record is required in ECM to setup an exemption. The US requirement adds unnecessary bloat to the database and do the extracts.
- O Series finally allowed our Tax Dept. to implement a fully integrated EC system to control taxability in real time.
- O Series allowed custom configurations for complex taxing scenarios without requiring IT intervention.

Vertex has a much better reputation and software customization to suit our needs.
- We have been able to leverage the BCI tool to get tax estimates on projects
- We have been able to create and save batch test scenarios in the transaction tester
I can't think of a time recently that Vertex has provided exceptional service. Recently it has lacked in it's customer experience. In the past Vertex support was very good, although it has always lacked the 24/7 support that it's more important clients require.

- We have also integrated our custom Large Industries Billing System (LIBS) that generates customer facing invoices for our pipeline business.
