Overall Satisfaction with Viewpoint Spectrum

The software is primarily used for accounting purposes, payroll, customer contracts, receivables, payables and job costing. On a more limited basis, also used for materials management and equipment.
  • Good reporting features with the ability to customize using Crystal reports.
  • Integrates well with other programs, i.e., can download from estimating software to set up jobs.
  • It's sometimes hard to control the document imaging window. It doesn't stop when you release the cursor. Have to go to top of screen and click in one of the bars to lock it in place.
  • In AP invoice entry, you have to slow down when entering job and phase number. Doesn't keep up with the speed of the person entering.
  • Document imaging has saved us a ton of paper and a ton of space. Not to mention time away from your desk that we'd otherwise have to get up and go search for.
  • Having access to everything in one software package - accounting, payroll, human resources.
The support has recently changed. Last year, you could call in and get an immediate response. Now that doesn't seem possible unless you have an urgent situation with access to the software, payroll or payables. I have found that using chat or e-mail works nicely for the most part, but sometimes I feel it would be easier if someone from support would jump on our site and take a first-hand look rather than going back and forth.
Our experience with integration/implementation was not that good. At the time, it was Dexter-Chaney and the person sent out to do the install wasn't well organized and when he left, we actually thought we had made a mistake purchasing the software. However, we attended a conference and realized that other companies had different experiences. We also met with trainers we hired to come out and help us and that made a huge difference.
At the time we purchased Spectrum, Viewpoint was a separate option. We did several webinars with Viewpoint, but they failed to come to us in NH where we could get a more "hands on" experience. The document imaging was a big piece to go with Spectrum. In the end, once we got someone to show us the ropes, we were very pleased we went with Spectrum.
Especially well suited for integration with other software eliminating the need to duplicate efforts. Huge time saver. It's cloud based, so allows for access from anywhere and the updates are automatic.
