Overall Satisfaction with Viewpoint Spectrum

We use Viewpoint for our accounting—A/P, A/R, Financial Reporting. Our field uses Procore for financial reports (budgets).
  • Job cost detail reports are great and can be filtered by specified dates
  • Aging A/P reports are easy to read.
  • It is impossible to "delete" items; reversal is the only option and is forever on GL reports; it looks messy.
  • A/R schedule of values cannot be altered once billed upon (adding additional items that are not a change order).
  • Reports readily available.
  • The level of detail is vast.
If you have an issue you send an email and Viewpoint will email you a case # to advise it's in the queue. You will most likely receive an email with a proposed method to correct your issue. If you have questions with their suggestion, you reply to the email and it goes back to queue (not necessarily to the same person that provides the original resolution). You may not receive a reply back for a day or two. If the second reply doesn't seem right and you want to speak to a service rep, this may take another day or so. If you call the service line, you are on hold for many minutes. I would prefer that our account have a dedicated service rep and I have their direct phone number or email so that when I need help, I receive a quicker response or just a phone call to walk me through some of the steps especially since Viewpoint will not allow any items to be "deleted" if processed incorrectly. They have to be "reversed" which looks messy and our CPA does not like reversals (looks messy; hard to follow).
The integration between Procore and Viewpoint has its struggles with syncing or updating. Sometimes the sync is in real-time and other jobs haven't synced for days. Procore cannot provide budget/costs by date (end of the month) like Viewpoint. However, I believe this is a Procore issue, not Viewpoint. Procore budget may not be the same in costs to date as Viewpoint is sorting by a specified date.
We originally had Jonas Premier prior to Viewpoint based on cost and flexibility (report writing). However, we discovered that Jonas reports are not available as described in the demo. And reports were not easy to read because they had to be created. It was challenging to determine where the data was pulled from to create the reports. When entering a large batch of invoices, if you walk away or attend a meeting, the batch of invoices would be gone not because they were not saved, but the system would lose them. Support was impossible as they were trying to figure out the issues to determine how to correct. One service rep may fix the problem, it would return, the next service rep said the previous rep did the correction wrong. It was difficult to have any confidence in their software or support team.
The level of permissions is fantastic especially for accounting software with multiple users. Reports are very detailed and have many sort/filter options. Very similar A/P entry to Timberline but a much better software (easier to change/modify reports).
