Overall Satisfaction with WatchGuard AuthPoint
AuthPoint is used organization-wide to enable MFA on a number of platforms (VPN, SaaS apps, etc.).
- ROI on security products is difficult to measure, but a compromised account could obviously be disastrous.
- AuthPoint mostly gives us peace of mind.
- The only remotely negative impact is that this does require some user training. Users must understand the danger of approving notifications they aren't certain they initiated themselves.
AuthPoint is generally more user-friendly and supports push notifications, which Google Authenticator does not. Microsoft MFA is a strong competitor because so many are using Office 365 nowadays, and it's free. Microsoft MFA can be a bit more complicated to set up. While that's fine for internal use as the setup is usually a one-time operation, supporting this implementation for our customers is not as interesting and can be too time-consuming.
As we are a cloud company ourselves, we strive for as small a footprint as possible in terms of on-prem equipment. This makes implementation for our customers also quite easy and remotely manageable. This allows for a speedy and simple deployment to get up and running.
Users have been unanimously positive about the on-boarding experience. The activation email is clear and easy to follow. The app is easy to locate and easy to work with. We regularly send heads-up notifications to our users to suggest additional integrations they might use for personal accounts, for example, and we've seen good acceptance on that.
To be honest, we haven't seen much use of the IdP portal / Access Portal.

WatchGuard AuthPoint is great for enabling MFA on their own products, of course (e.g., mobile VPN, firewall management), but also works great on a number of other platforms. Support for third-party tokens is great because it allows users to consolidate other MFA apps that were being used for personal apps (e.g., social media, Amazon, Netflix, etc.).
