Overall Satisfaction with WatchGuard Network Security
We use Watchguard across our entire organization. They are very easy to set up, and work great! They also allow you to get "trade-in" pricing from your old Firewall when you purchase a new one from them!
- Very easy VPN setup between devices, with numerous secure protocols that can be utilized.
- Includes a free SSLVPN tool, so that you can remote into any of your devices without any additional costs.
- WatchGuard offers many different levels of products, ranging from 10-20 users all the way up to thousands of users.
- None that I can think of!
- We have never had to return or exchange a defective product before, they are extremely stable!

It has. Being able to utilize WatchGuard Dimension for no additional costs is fabulous. All of my devices send logs to Dimension, and then Dimension packages what information I select, and emails it to me each day. It couldn't be any easier!

Using WatchGuard Network Security
2 - Network Administrator for the district, and hired contractor who may help with some large-scale projects within the district.
1 - Knowledge in enterprise-level networking, VLANs, WAN and WLAN networks. Web and traffic filtering knowledge is also a must.
- Internal Web Filtering before traffic leaves the network
- Allows for numerous different outbound filters to be in place - depending on the user or device in use.
- Anti-Virus and Malware scanning on traffic before it enters the network
- WAN capability built in, which saves us from having to utilize a third party or additional equipment
- For smaller locations, our Watchguard device does it all. DHCP Leases, DNS Filtering, Web Filtering, Inbound and Outbound internet connections
- We utilize Watchguard Dimension (Free) for logging and other business tracking needs.
- We also allow the Watchguard device to maintain DHCP leases for our guest or BYOD networks - so that separate DHCP pools aren't needed on our windows servers.
- Further WAN integrations are our branch office locations
Evaluating WatchGuard Network Security and Competitors
Yes - We switched from Cisco's ASA series firewall about 10 years ago, and have been utilizing Watchguard ever since. Far more simplistic to setup initially, and maintenance is a breeze. Setting up our needed VLANs and numerous network policies within the Watchguard box is also very straight-forward and is done either with a downloaded software program (System Manager) or through a Web GUI.

Previous knowledge and experience in working with Watchguard products is why we continue to use them. Their pricing has remained competitive as well - and their renewal process is very simplistic. Total downtime with a physical device replacement is 10 minutes max - so I don't have to spend a ton of time after-hours replacing this equipment when it's at the end of its life.
I wouldn't. Very happy with our selection with Watchguard products. Their regional service team is also quick to reply to emails - and their online ticketing system is also quite easy to use - when needed.

WatchGuard Network Security Support
We did not. The only reason being as it doubles the cost of the product we're purchasing. If it was a bit more budget-friendly, we would be very interested.
We were having some delays within our own business office a year or so ago - and one of our Watchguard products was near the end of its license. I reached out to one of the regional Watchguard reps and was provided with a 60-day temp key to get us through until our renewal purchase order could be processed. I had the key in-hand the same day I reached out to them about my issue. Very pleased with this service so that we didn't have to experience any downtime for our staff and students.
