Overall Satisfaction with Webex App

This review comes from an organization currently using Cisco Jabber. Webex App has yet to be released to our firm. Upon piloting the software as a potential replacement to Cisco Jabber and the Webex Desktop Client, it falls short specifically when it comes to replace Jabber. It takes control away from IT when setting features to default values in the Webex App for users. For example, there are no registry keys to enable the Microsoft Office calendar integration ahead of time leaving our users with having to do this themselves. While this is not a difficult task for users to do, it creates confusion, frustration, and generates calls to our helpdesk until resolved. It would have better user acceptance if this could be set ahead of time by IT administrators. Other concerns also revolve around pop up reminders even for non-Webex meetings. So any meeting in a user's calendar having sip details will be picked up by Webex. Users joining calls using other platforms such as Zoom will be reminded by Webex and prompted to join. The Webex App can launch the meeting but it lacks the features inherent with other platforms. A user may not realize they have launched the app using the Webex App thus resulting in calls to our helpdesk because they think something is wrong.
  • Webex meetings work well.
  • Messaging and message confirmations.
  • Call management.
  • Improve deployment features and tools for IT.
  • Better detection of non-Webex calendar meetings.
  • No alert feature to inform coworkers when available (currently available in Jabber).
  • Fine tune the concept of spaces versus groups. Both seem to accomplish similar goals.
  • We have not yet deployed the Webex App to our users.
  • We anticipate it will have a positive impact with some challenges once we deploy.
While TAC has been helpful, there are times we find ourselves chasing them down for answers. Remaining informed has been difficult. We do receive communication via email from automated systems but news on end of life for certain products or changes to update schedules have arrived late thus forcing us to suddenly shift priorities to support it.

No

Did Webex App live up to sales and marketing promises?

No

Did implementation of Webex App go as expected?

No

Would you buy Webex App again?

No

It needs improvement. It seems the product missed the mark when it came to replacing Jabber. The Webex App team also failed to closely consider the needs of IT organizations because of the lack of administrative tools to control features. The app works well - no errors found however its usability could also be improved. If your teams are communicating this tool is meant to replace Jabber, then Webex App needs a bit more fine tuning to ensure Jabber users receive a better experience when they upgrade to Webex App.
Well suited for organizations where IT does not handhold their users through upgrades, such as smaller organizations or high tech organizations where users are technically savvy.
