Overall Satisfaction with Webex App

Webex Teams is being used and evaluated as a persistent chat solution for our organization, in conjunction with Microsoft Teams and Mattermost. It is mainly being used by the IT department to evaluate and see if it can be a standard in our organization moving forward. The benefit it has is that people can ask quick questions and get answers almost immediately, as opposed to waiting for an email response or calling the help desk.
  • Intuitive design, easy to use.
  • Very clean interface, every button and section has a purpose.
  • Easy to create spaces for your team to collaborate.
  • Calling function is not fleshed out, harder to use than competitors.
  • Notification window is too small to read, and should stay up longer than it does.
  • Integration with 3rd-party apps is not the greatest.
  • Decreased calls to the help desk, which helps employee productivity.
  • Flow-down of information, to make employees aware of organizational news.
  • Negative: End-user confusion, with another chat application on computers, they are not sure which one to utilize.
We are still in the evaluation phase for Webex Teams, however, pitting it against Microsoft Teams has made Microsoft come out the winner. MS Teams has integration with the Microsoft Office suite, connection to SharePoint and OneDrive, app integration, and very high-quality audio/video conferencing. Webex Teams does not have any of those features, so it is harder to justify purchasing the product when it has fewer features than its competitors.
Cisco provides great customer support for all of its products, and Webex Teams is no exception. They helped us with deployment and with any issues we are having with the product. It does take them some time to get back to us due to the volume of requests they receive but overall we are happy with their support.

Do you think Webex App delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Webex App's feature set?

No

Did Webex App live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Webex App go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Webex App again?

No

Webex Teams' usability is pretty good. It has a nice and clean interface and end-users can adapt to using it pretty quickly. The view of People and Spaces chats makes it easy to separate your conversations. Most in our organization have had a positive experience dealing with Webex Teams.
Webex Teams is a good solution for persistent chat and team collaboration. However, its competitors bring more to the table and are more fleshed out in terms of capabilities and features. Microsoft Teams, Mattermost, and Slack all do things much better than Webex Teams, which makes it a hard sell to stakeholders if you are thinking about implementation.

Cisco Hybrid Work

  • Webex Meetings
  • Webex Calling
  • Working from anywhere (e.g., coffee shop, airport)
  • Working from an office or other company space
  • Working from home
Due to the pandemic, we had to stand up our hybrid work solution pretty quickly. It is pretty mature at this stage in time as more than half our workforce now exclusively works from home. There was a lot of testing involved, and making sure our VPN and network solutions were fully optimized to allow WebEx to be integrated into the environment.
There were political issues and funding issues as well that interfered with our project of implementing hybrid work via WebEx. Multiple teams that were not familiar with each other were forced to work together to achieve a common goal. This did cause a longer than anticipated delay in the implementation process. The technical portion, however, was the easier part.
Due to Cisco's WebEx having high availability, our workforce was able to join WebEx meetings from their laptop, desktop, or mobile phone. Whether they were in the office or at home, or even on the road due to travel, this solution helped users collaborate in meetings effectively. This was especially useful during the pandemic, as most users had to work from home.
The flexibility of working from virtually anywhere, has really helped us in achieving productivity. WebEx support has been fantastic in helping us achieve our goals of implementing a hybrid work model within our organization. We have seen fewer incidents from end users due to the reliability and ease of use of WebEx.
We have used Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Skype for Business for meetings, however, they all did not fit the bill as well as Cisco WebEx did in terms of our strategy for implementing hybrid work. The ease of use and the overall high reliability with minimal service incidents made it an easy choice to stick with WebEx for our hybrid work environment.
