Overall Satisfaction with Widen

We have used Acquia DAM (Widen) for the past six years at Masonite. I have been the Acquia DAM (Widen) administrator for the past four years. Acquia DAM (Widen) is the repository for all Masonite product images/video/documents to create content-driven experiences for marketing purposes. It also allows us to share assets with interior and exterior users and it is the image hub to feed WordPress CMS and will also soon feed Salsify PIM. I find Acquia DAM (Widen)'s interface very intuitive and there is a lot of training content available in Acquia DAM (Widen) University. I think Acquia DAM (Widen)'s technical chat feature is really efficient since allows you to instantly connect with an Acquia DAM (Widen) specialist for any issue you may be experiencing with the system or for guidance within your Acquia DAM (Widen) site. In Masonite's case, the main pain point has been the fact that our organization transitioned from a B2B company to a more customer faced business approach. For that reason we needed a re-organization, tagging of our assets, which have proved to be a little challenging. We are currently in the process of that optimization and we are counting on Acquia DAM (Widen)'s team to successfully complete the task.
  • User's adminitration
  • Available training
  • Customer service
  • Design flexibility within the portals. While some improvements have been made in the last few years, we are missing some flexibility to combine assets, control spacing and background images to sections.
  • Collections administration
  • Lately, we have had some communication issues. This hasn't been the norm from them, so I hope Customer Service continues to be the main pillar of Acquia DAM (Widen)'s signature.
  • Entries
  • Portals
  • Insights
  • Consistency on marketing materials
  • Flexibility on updating images on our website
  • Streamline creative workflow
Portals are a great feature that allow us to share with the correct stakeholders marketing material specific for a product campaign. The well tagged images in Widen will pair with our content in our PIM to offer complete product information. We are just implementing the Workflow from Widen for our creative process; that will allow us to streamline our creative process.
While we lately have had some communication issues, Acquia DAM (Widen)'s team has always been extremely professional and eager to dig into any issue to find a long-term, real solution, rather than just going with a fast band-aid for the problem. In the past four years, we have always counted on their expertise and guidance and hope we will have that same first-class service in our optimization process.
Portals have played a great role on sharing brand-approved material with different stakeholders.
Acquia DAM (Widen) was already Masonite DAM when I started with the company. I really didn't participate in the evaluation or decision process.

Acquia DAM (Widen) is currently the hub of all our assets and it has been easy to connect it with the CMS and our PIM. It's easy to connect it with other systems and Acquia DAM (Widen) support makes the difference in this area. We also have access to Acquia DAM (Widen) University with current content to train new users and to be updated on Acquia DAM (Widen)'s capabilities.

Evaluating Widen and Competitors

Yes - No personally but the company evaluated Bynder and decided for Acquia DAM (Widen) because of the support for the implementation phase and the flexibility to connect with other systems
The company was looking for specific DAM capabilities that Acquia DAM (Widen) provided: flexibility and support being the two most important.
With what I have learned managing the system, my number one priority would be again the support. DAM systems are constantly updating and new capabilities come to the table every year, with a good partnership we can adopt those new capabilities with no issues but it could be a bumpy road without proper communication.

We don't have Premium support. The support they offer as part of the plan is outstanding. We do pay for extra support in specific projects and they tailor a solution for our specific needs. For example we are currently re-structuring assets metadata and enlisted Acquia DAM (Widen) specialists help for the task.
The Chat Support is the best I have experienced ever. At any time during working hours we can do there for a question and the waiting time is always minimal. The Customer Representatives are very knowledge and they go above and beyond to solve any issue/question we have. For example I contacted them to add portal's links on the Dashboard and while they don't have a straight forward way to do that, they came out with the solution of placing an image with a link to the portals.
