Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We were looking for a project management tool that we could gear towards live events, which our former PM tool was not well suited to. Zoho Projects allows us to do that, particularly utilizing the calendar for the important dates/milestones, and the forums to put all the relevant information in. We use it across the organization, but primarily within our operations department to plan and schedule live events.

Pros and Cons

The calendar is very intuitive
The forums work very well for sharing information between the team
Email notifications for calendar events

Occasionally buggy and has service outages
The time tracking is not the smoothest
Mobile version is almost unusable

Return on Investment

Improved workflow for our whole team
Almost eliminated missed deadlines/dates
Improved integration with our CRM (also Zoho) for client data

Alternatives Considered

Basecamp and Trello

Bascamp was our main PM platform for several years, however, it was lacking in a few key features that Zoho had or did better. We made the switch about 3 years ago, and Zoho Projects has been much better. I do respect Basecamp for what it is, and it did the job for us, but Projects just works better. We currently use Trello in conjunction with Projects, with each having their own use.

Support Rating

When we first joined Projects, support was iffy at best. We had some tickets that were several days outstanding, some bugs we reported that got no response, etc. However, in the last year, that has changed exponentially. We get quick responses from the support team now, and they are quick to resolve any issues we have for the most part.

Likelihood to Recommend

Projects is great as a PM tool within a small to medium team where information sharing and due dates (or event dates in our case) need to be visible to the whole team. Anytime the information is updated, I can choose to notify the entire team, or just the team members that the update is pertinent to.
