TrustRadius is a community where technology users, experts, buyers, and providers share insights to drive better business outcomes. This all starts with a platform built and optimized for creating and sharing transparent and trustworthy content. By creating an honest and neutral platform, TrustRadius encourages experts to share their knowledge and buyers to learn and engage with their peers.

But none of this can be done without inspiring and fostering a customer-centric culture based on our core values: T.R.U.T.H. At TrustRadius, we value T.R.U.T.H. in all things. Our team members are:

  • Transparent – We’re transparent in everything—with site visitors, customers, and each other.
  • Respectful – Truth drives every business decision, so every voice matters.
  • Unstoppable – When we’re changing the world, we work fast and lean.
  • Team Player – No one can do it alone, so we support our team and win together.
  • Human – In a software-driven world, truth isn’t just an algorithm. Humans make it happen.

This TRUSTimonials series recognizes TrustRadius employees, or TrustRadians, who go the extra mile for our customers on a daily basis. They bring our core values to life with their words, actions, and outcomes. Bravo, team!

TRUSTimonial from Kaylin Gilkey

Who or what inspired you to pursue the B2B career you have today?

In some ways I feel like I just stumbled into the B2B tech industry, but I’m grateful I did because I’ve learned a lot and I do enjoy it. My mom had a huge impact on inspiring me to continue to push myself and not settle for a job I hated, because she actually worked a job she mostly hated for my entire life (almost 30 years!) and I knew I didn’t want to have a job that made me miserable to wake up for it every day. I wanted a job that was interesting, that allowed me to be a continuous learner, and that had great people for me to work with. Basically, I learned from my mother what not to do with my career and found my way into B2B tech.

How would you describe your job to a class of kindergartners?

I help businesses get on the front page of Google by making sure we follow Google’s rules. Once people get to our website, the work I do tries to make them delighted with the time they spend there.

What’s the best advice you can give to someone who just started their career in your field?

Go out of your way to collaborate with business stakeholders on all kinds of different teams. Get to know teammates with various job functions at the company you work for. Try to learn what makes each team tick, what motivates them, and their pain points. Having a base-level understanding of the broader picture and what people care about can make you a better employee and teammate. It also gives you more ammo to use when trying to persuade others to your side on various ideas or projects.

Do you have anyone you would like to recognize who may have helped you in your career?

I could name a ton of people. My work best friend, Becky Susko, because she is one of my biggest supporters through all of my career highs and lows and knows how to make me laugh. My current boss, Mark Barrera, because he believes in me and gives me the space to voice my opinions and concerns and makes me feel heard. My current direct reports, Ryan Padgett and Caleb Fortune, because they both continue to give me great feedback as a manager so I can learn how to be a good boss for them. So many others I could name!

What’s your secret talent or superpower no one knows about?

I bet I can put together a jigsaw puzzle faster than you—whether it’s 100 pieces or 1,000+, doesn’t matter.
