Reviews
(1-25 of 676)Saves my small business time and money
- Goals within automations simplifies the funnel
- As a solopreneur who is not technically inclined, I love their direct support
- I've been able to take full advantage of their ongoing learning webinars
- As someone who can be easily put off by tech problems, ActiveCampaign can appear more daunting than it really is.
- Their last interface changed my UX and I found that confusing. If it ain't broken, don't fix it.
- Automations are logical, easy to understand, and build
- Tagging is very easy
- Importing data and data clean up is simple
- Segmentation is not easy to work with
- Reports are too basic, not easy to craft meaningful reports
- Campaigns (basically emails) need expanded functionality, or just remove them and force them to be used in automations (even if just simple)
- Your new interface for email templates is clunky, and does not accommodate migration from older templates that have been crafted
- Your knowledge center is difficult to navigate and often hard to work with (separate platform with login). Consider a portal format as an upgrade path
In my opinion, Fragile Design resulted in significant Lost Revenue - Be careful or steer clear
- Searchable table of contacts
- Email campaign templates
- Decent email workflows
- In my opinion, Terrible UX for accessing contacts, no navigation buttons, users have to click the back button and then click on the next contact.
- In my experience, VERY SLOW - the system is very slow to load data which frustrates the UX and makes it frustrating to access contact data quickly
- In my opinion, Fragile design - it is very easy to break automations, but ActiveCampaign insists on this design (more to say later)
ActiveCampaign continues to best meet my email service needs
- Because of excellent tagging and segmenting options I can use a single account for mailing subscribers who signed up from my 2 websites
- It makes it easy to see what list, tags, and automations each subscriber has
- There are a many options to choose from when building out automations
- My number one complaint is the way an account can be frozen if you unexpectedly reach your subscriber limit. There should be at least a feature that alerts you when a limit has been reached with an timeframe allowed to scrub your list or upgrade without losing service access.
- Some options are difficult to find on the site
- The newest pricing structure is difficult to understand
Robust tool, but expensive
- Automation features that systematize when leads enter my flows
- Templates in campaigns that make it easy to send templatized monthly newsletters
- Integration with other tools / apps
- Very expensive for small businesses
- Took out a lot of useful tools in the lower tiers (used to be available and they just removed it without notification!)
- Pretty slow
ActiveCampaign is an All-in-One easy and effective solution for all types and sizes of companies
- Easy to create Automations
- Email Marketing Management
- Integration tools with our business
- Forms : there's an opportunity to go 1 step further, offering conditionals and other more complex features
- Whatsapp communication: this feature isn't yet usable as a communication tool within ActiveCampaign
- Automation: That is the power of ActiveCampaign, I personally use forms that once my leads fill, they enter in a very robust automation about an online event, and all the reminders work around that event.
- Interface: Although ActiveCampaign be a very robust automation tool, they have a friendly interface that everyone can learn to use in 1 day.
- API connection: I use ActiveCampaign with Hotmart, and once a client abandoned my cart, ActiveCampaign send the sequence to remind my client to complete the purchase. Is very ease to use and always work very well!
- Pricing: ActiveCampaign is a very good tool, but the pricing is really high when you are escalating your business. I think that is only the my complaint
- Linking automations together
- Having access to a secondary login for my assistant
- Forms that trigger stuff for me with ease
- Lead scoring lets me see who is excited about me
- They cut down customer success without warning and then also increased the tax fees that I was never charged before. They didnt do a good job explaining this.
- Its slow in my browser which feels like somethin that should have been fixed ages ago.
- I wish they were more transparent abou the free 30 min calls I used to get. It seems like they changed a lot in the last year
- for an email automation company, they have added me to automations that were not correct like new user ones. Or I got prospecting ones when i was already paying.
- Deals in ActiveCampaign is amazing as it allows you to track your leads and revenue for each of your clients
- I love the automation feature on ActiveCampaign. It really simplifies my life and automates so much stuff for me so that I'm not feeling hectic and dropping balls in my day
- I love the campaign feature and how easy it is to create a newsletter using the blocks or templates provided.
- Being able to link Calendly with ActiveCampaign so that the questions my leads answer in the Calendly form then get populated into the notes section of AC.
Love using ActiveCampaign
- Visual representation of automation
- Stats on the Home dashboard
- Pricing: much higher than alternatives
- Segmentation
User friendly and good for automating marketing campaigns
- User friendly
- Good for automation
- Good for integrating with other software
- I wish it was cheaper
- I wish it would come with a sliding scale price for the number of contacts, at the moment it does, but the difference between one rate and the next is high
- I wish there were more tutorials
Definitely a great choice for a newbie!
- Very user friendly and easy to use.
- It looks professional.
- The support is great!
- Some more customization would be nice.
- It's hard to insert images at times.
- The videos show up dark.
ActiveCampaign very user friendly
- Works well with Zapier
- Solves problems for us
- Allows us to use online forms
- All features are pretty much user friendly
I am a solopreneur and I use ActiveCampaign to manage my list, set automations, welcome sequences, and broadcast campaigns.
What it helps me do is keep the list management simple by using tags and a few lists. This way I can have a buyers list and a master list and use a simple tag system to properly identify what the person has purchased and interacted with.
I came from using Mailchimp's free plan and didn't like needing to use different lists for everything because they didn't have any tagging system that could integrate with other platforms
- The automation triggers and workflow commands available are impressive. Very robust, it's so robust I don't know what's capable of doing since I stick to foundational triggers
- The tagging system and segmentation approach is convenient since one can create segments from different places
- I was relatively simple to navigate around the platform. (finding where are the lists, campaigns, automations.
- I liked the quick ability to search for specific contacts based on status and tags.
- The email builder is annoying. Very slow at work and it constantly resets the cursor, font type and list continuation. It's one of the most frustrating things about it.
- I am surprised there isn't an automatic "send to people who haven't opened the last x campaigns" trigger. Other competitors have this feature. Instead, I'm forced to use 2 automations that play the role of tagging after a certain amount of days have passed.
- While it's a market practice, I think the cost can go up exponentially the more members one has. Maybe I don't understand the process enough but places like sendgrid, MailerLite offer decent automations and 1,000 subscribers free. I know sendgrid charges per email sent but still I find the cost to pay for a list size odd.
- The overall refresh rate of the platform seems to use a lot of CPU power because it lags every time I switch functions or create new steps. I can hear my fans go to high every time I start doing something. I know my CPU is old but I use other demanding software and I don't have that problem. I think the refresh rate and speed of the platform can be improved.
The automation triggers are very robust and it allows for many solutions to email sequence needs. The tagging system is quick to use and offers the option to manage it all with one list.
It also offers integration with many digital marketing platforms which makes it convenient to seamlessly transfer contact information from one place to another.
The addition of basic landing page building is a plus but the slowness of the builder makes it a little tedious to use at times.
At the cost, ActiveCampaign simply cannot be beat!
- Email Automation.
- Goals within Email Automation - Goal Reporting.
- Customizable use cases.
- Social media integration.
- At times the platform can be a bit laggy.
- Email formatting could use an upgrade (ie. sometimes it defaults back to Ariel 12 when you're editing email copy when you've already changed the font meaning you have to change the font again).
My experience: Damaged me personally with financial loss due to their error, and now my business suffering because of data loss—no apologies
- Customer service is readily available (via chatbot) for basic questions on how to use the CRM
- Their automation flow makes more sense to me than some other CRMs.
- In my opinion, their customer service is horrible. It took 38 emails over 2 weeks simply to "resolve" that my bank account was overdrawn due to an unauthorized renewal fee for a yearly subscription, when I had never purchased a yearly subscription before.
- In my opinion, customer service could actually listen to the problem and respond like their customers are real people instead of giving canned, generic responses, making light of significant issue.
- In my opinion, not threaten to remove access to contact data in the event of their own error (such as unauthorized charges, and then, in my experience, after refunding, threatening to remove access to contact data if I didn't purchase a plan).
- In my opinion, not randomly change the functions on their platform that results in data loss, such as happened to me this week.
- In my opinion, when receiving a complaint about customer data loss: apologize or acknowledge the loss.
- In my opinion, reimburse a business for financial loss suffered due to, what I believe is incompetent and dishonest behavior, such as the auto-renew event last June.
Here is my experience: In my opinion, this is the worst customer service I have ever experienced. As a CRM that is supposed to hold data for people's customers, I felt they threatened me with the data loss of my clients in June, and now they have lost the data of my clients. In June it took 38 emails over two weeks to get the issue "sorted out". They caused me to go overdrawn in my bank account by making an unauthorized renewal charge on my card on file. I never purchased a yearly membership to begin with, and suddenly in June I was charged over $600 for a renewal of a yearly subscription. I had never had a yearly subscription before! Like I said, it took over 38 emails to get to a conclusion. I was initially told they do not provide refunds. I finally got a refund, was given a free year, then they took that free year away and, in my experience, threatened me with data loss if I didn't pay within about a week's timeframe! Then, in my experience, they gave me an extra week before they threatened to remove access to my clients data, as though they were being nice by giving me an extra week. I was literally about to launch a business I had been working on for two years, and they did this to me! And I'd been using them for about a year or more building up to my launch! I was never reimbursed for the overdraft fees, and ended up purchasing a yearly subscription simply because I was about to launch my business and it was set up to operate using ActiveCampaign so I couldn't afford to learn a whole new CRM and rewire my business right before a launch. I cannot begin to express how, in my opinion, bad the customer service representative was that handled this whole thing. I truly felt like a number not a person to them, and all they cared about was taking my money, not the fact that they were toying with my livelihood. Now this week there is a new issue. Since I have had ActiveCampaign, I have had a feature where I can attach files to my contacts. And I do. Signed, legal documents. Well this week all the files I've ever attached to any customers disappeared. And now suddenly there is no feature to even attach files. My experience: The first customer service representative I spoke with literally did not understand what I was asking and kept asking me about was I having trouble importing contacts, completely unrelated to my issue. I asked to speak with a manager or someone else and the customer service representative said they couldn't pass my ticket along to anyone else or let anyone else see it. In my opinion, lies. I left the chat conversation. I waited a day and went back. The next customer service representative said they would look into it and email me back. They emailed me back with no apology or even acknowledgment that customer data had been lost! They simply said the feature to add files to a contact is with their sales plan only, so I need to purchase the sales plan. I haven't had the sales plan for the 2 years I've had ActiveCampaign and I have always had the files feature. In my opinion, basic common sense says this does not answer the problem. Why did the feature suddenly disappear? The customer service representative did not even apologize for my data loss, say they would try to help find the lost files—nothing. I am now convinced, after this and reading other reviews here of similar, in my opinion, horrible neglect of their customers, that in my free time I need to begin learning another CRM and rebuilding my business to function on another platform. I do not understand how the owners can have a clean conscious knowing they support businesses function—help people maintain their livelihood—but, in my experience, treat those people with no dignity or respect. I am appalled. And hurt. In my experience, my business has been hurt by ActiveCampaign. Twice now. And in no small way.
ActiveCampaign Review
- Automation
- Email Marketing
- Customer database
- Reporting functionality
- ActiveCampaign's marketing automation features have also revolutionized our workflows
- We utilize ActiveCampaign's messaging features for sending targeted SMS and site messages, helping us reach our customers in real-time, and further driving engagement.
- In terms of sales and CRM, ActiveCampaign provides a comprehensive view of our customer data, making it easier for our sales team to track and manage leads.
- The mobile app could be improved. It doesn't offer all the functionality available on the desktop version, which can limit what can be accomplished when I'm away from my computer.
- While the platform is comprehensive, its user interface could be more intuitive and load faster at times.
- Some smaller businesses and startups might find ActiveCampaign's advanced features to be pricey. Offering more scalable pricing options or packages tailored to smaller businesses might be beneficial.

ActiveCampaign for small business
- Collects and filters emails from various lead magnets exceptionally well (especially if a user wants to re-sign up to the same lead magnet and go through it again, they can)
- Super easy to use email creation that is aesthetically pleasing and user friendly
- Easy email sequences and user classification from a large range of opt in trigger options
- Sometimes the email creation can be glitchy and the font size drastically changes
