Overall Satisfaction with Final Cut Pro X
Our small business team uses Final Cut Pro X for cataloging, sharing, editing and production of marketing content specifically directed for streaming on industry-leading content platforms, for PPC-focused advertising and social media posting in post or story format on behalf of our roster of clients. Our determining factors are ease of use, feature set, cost, and organizational performance.
- Adheres to the conceptually easy timeline model, thus making simple onboarding.
- Feature-rich toolset which allows for incredible product manipulation from the get-go
- Expandability via a vibrant plugin ecosystem. Final Cut plugins are broadly developed.
- Rich integration with studio products: Motion, Compressor
- Version updates exhibit a product team in touch with what the market needs
- One obvious drawback: Mac hardware device only.
- Depth of toolset can be overwhelming, and rich features remain undiscovered.
- Managing catalogs of videos at a Project level can still be conceptually misleading and confusing.
- Organization of video, audio, image content into Libraries while left in place
- Proxying for remote work, local rendering.
- Easy onboarding.
- Quickly onboarding intern employees means lower training cost and faster turnaround on products
- Rich plugin ecosystem means more attractive effects, faster.
I find that many users have some iMovie experience when approaching Final Cut Pro X, and thus segue quickly to it. Premiere is also a good product, timeline-based, with a very mature expansion market, possibly with a cluttered interface. DaVinci Resolve is the free product from Blackmagic, but complaints consist of node-based management confusion and costly upgrades outside of the limited free version.
