We currently use Adobe Audition to cut/crop music tracks for our promotional videos. Other programs lack in cutting audio in the same way Adobe Audition does. I know Audition is a more technical program that allows for far greater work in it, but that's what we use it for in our company.
  • Edit audio
  • Reduce background noise
  • Audio file management
  • Does not have a friendly UI
  • Steep learning curve
  • Not for casual users
Adobe Audition is best suited for say, a band or musician editing their audio tracks and being able to fine-tune very specific elements of each track and sound and anything else captured during the recording process. For our instances, it's a little too complicated for what we use it for, but Adobe Spark or Adobe Rush don't have enough features, so there is no in-between.
  • Helped us save money on hiring a sound editor and keeps editing in-house.
  • Not too expensive with our Adobe Creative Cloud plan.
It isn't easy to just jump in and learn the program, though most of Adobe products aren't easy to use the first time around. They UI is not friendly, and it is cumbersome and intimidating when you first try it. For simple audio changes, it seems to difficult to use, but for the more advanced audio work, it's the perfect solution.
The community support is great, and there are a lot of dedicated individuals out there that provide tutorials and tips & tricks for new users, so definitely check those out if you are having a hard time. The Adobe support staff are great at answering questions in live chat and email.
Audition is definitely the way to go for your audio needs versus Adobe Premiere Pro. But, you can actually open the audio you're working on in Premiere Pro in Adobe Audition and edit it directly without needing to save the audio separately and importing it. You can make live changes in Audition and it updates in Premiere.
