I have personally used Adobe Premiere Pro for over a decade. I use it to edit personal videos and also create videos for our on-line company advertising. It is considered the 'de-facto' standard for good reason - if it can't be done in Adobe Premiere Pro, it probably can't be done.
  • An abundance of Filter options
  • Separating sound and video elements
  • moving Text Balloons
  • I think Adobe Premiere Pro could really benefit from a better 'Quick Tutorial' feature.
  • Reorganization of all of the menus are in order - they have just gotten very long and could be more concise.
If you work with editing videos - it pays to take the time and learn Adobe Premiere Pro. Once over the initial learning curve (which can be steep), your videos will come alive easier and more professional looking using the features in Adobe Premiere Pro.
  • Tons of Filters to choose from
  • Built-in Audio editing and stripping features
  • The ability to export to Tons of different video file formats
  • Our video advertisements made by Adobe Premiere Pro receive a much better response than our previous video advertisements not made using Adobe Premiere Pro
  • We get compliments from new clients on our video advertisements (which lets us know that they definitely Notice the advertisement On-Line)
DaVinci Resolve works nicely (though some things have a different flow compared to Adobe Premiere Pro). More importantly though, whenever I ran into a limitation with DaVinci Resolve, I can always find a solution with Adobe Premiere Pro.

We replaced DaVinci Resolve with Adobe Premiere Pro because of some limitations with DaVinci Resolve's editor.

If it can't be done in Adobe Premiere Pro, it most likely can't be done. With every other video editing product, we always ran into some limitation - not so with Adobe Premiere Pro.
I would have done exactly the same thing - try to edit a video and see how it goes!
  • in-person training
Utilizing one of the many books available on Adobe Premiere Pro, each video editor can learn at their own pace.
Adobe Premiere Pro can be VERY overwhelming at first (especially if you are new to video editing).

We use Adobe Premiere Pro in the training department of the bank. I believe the marketing department uses it occasionally as well, but that's it. We use it to edit training videos to be used in classroom training as well as online training. I use it often for personal use as well.
  • I love the work flow ease. Once you get comfortable in the program and learn some shortcuts, you can edit videos very quickly.
  • Premiere is extremely powerful and has so many bells and whistles that I don't currently use but I know that they are there for when I do need them.
  • I really like the layout of the timeline and the ability to customize your workspace and save it. So I only see what I want and what I use instead of being distracted by a bunch of panels that I never use.
  • Maybe they could provide some more easier-to-use effects in their presets library.
  • I don't have any other cons that I can think of.
It is well suited for any kind of video editing, whether that's professional use or making a meme. I use it for editing training videos of scenarios. For example taking the videos from two camera angles of a staged scenario and editing the two clips together. I also use Premiere to edit music videos that I record in my spare time.
  • Premiere has had a positive impact, for sure, on our overall business objectives.
  • It has been helpful to provide more avenues of training our associates.
  • It is well worth the cost of a monthly Adobe CC membership to be able to use it when we need it.
I used to use Final Cut Pro. But shortly after Final Cut Pro X came out, I switched to Premiere Pro. Mainly because I graduated college and used Windows PCs instead of using the Macs available to me in college. However, I quickly got comfortable in Premiere and found that I liked it way more than Final Cut Pro X. Both have their special features but I feel that Premiere is more accepted in the video editing industry and has more robust features.

  • Prior Experience with the Product
The single most important factor in our decision was that Premiere Pro was already a part of the Adobe CC Suite. We need to use Photoshop and Illustrator on a daily basis in creating online training, so it made sense to use Premiere Pro as our video editing software. Not only did that provide financial benefit for us but I had prior experience with it and use a Windows computer to do my work on, so Final Cut Pro was already out of the question.
I wouldn't change the evaluation and selection process. The only factor that would possibly change is if I had a Mac to work on and could therefore use Final Cut Pro X. But even then, I am more comfortable in Premiere Pro and it can easily be installed on a Mac.
