What is Adobe Workfront?

Workfront is a web-based project-management tool acquired and now supported by Adobe since late 2020. It was designed for both IT and marketing teams, but can be implemented for any kind of project. Workfront offers all the features standard to project management platforms. Editing and updating issues from the project view is styled to work somewhat similarly to a social networking site, bringing team members together in one central location. From the project view screen, issues, documents, and other elements of the project are placed along a tab bar so that they may be addressed with one click directly from the hub.

The platform's Capacity Planner allows a manager to move resources to where they are needed, and has some automation features (e.g. the Set Best Fit option, which attempts to allocate resources optimally within given constraints). Agile project management is supported with features like Gantt charts, an easily viewable and manipulable backlog, and storyboarding. Team members can be managed with the aid of quantitative metrics that show where work would be best allocated.

A free trial is available, after which Workfront comes in four pricing options. The lowest tier is Collaboration for small groups, followed by Work which adds mobile accessibility and time sheets, then Plan which adds additional analytic, planning, and reporting features. Finally, Enterprise Plus offers the highest configurability as well as support and data security.

Workfront is more comprehensive. The thing that sets Workfront apart is that using their api, we can write custom integrations over Workfront and design our own dashboards using that integration. This allows us to not only use tools provided by Workfront, but write our own very specific and specialized tooling.

To manage the organization's work from project to project, the organization uses multiple project management solutions. In comparison to Jira, however, the only useful feature I found is the Gantt chart, which helps give a clear overview for multiple projects at once. Moreover, it assists with the management of different markets.

It's been a while since I've used another time and resource management platform, but I would say that Adobe Workfront takes the cake. Its newly refreshed user interface is simple to navigate, whereas other platforms can be quite confusing when "drilling down" on a project. Also, Adobe Workfront has features that I have not seen in other platforms, including collaboration capabilities and the ability to upload a document as proof so it can be reviewed for grammar, consistency, formatting, etc., before being presented or sent to a client.

Adobe is very intuitive in its workflow automation and creation of the task workflows that can be used as templates for employees. That is harder to create in Teams unless there is [the] integration of another Microsoft product and more time spent on it by an IT professional. It's a solid application that makes it easy to onboard new team members to the system and get great results by them understanding the tools provided.

Ultimately [Adobe] Workfront had the scalability and insights that we needed. From a cost/value perspective it has proven itself but the initial evaluation was a team effort and had many points of input.

Workfront is more robust and versatile than Asana and Smartsheets, which is why we did not go with those tools. It is pretty comparable to Wrike in many ways. We use Workfront over Wrike because we are set up in Workfront already.

I used these programs in comparison to it, in a handful of trials for the staff. I ended up not selecting Adobe (or the others) because the technology aspect became too overwhelming for some staff - meaning, they didn't use the program, would complain about every little thing, and ultimately render the product useless. This program would be perfect for a company with forward-thinking employees who are not insulted that they need help managing products. As a result, it did affect my score because I know that user accessibility is a very important thing. If I'd been consulting for a marketing company familiar with CRMs, CMSs, or other Project Management software, I'm certain the score would have been higher because I would have seen a more extensive experience.

When I was employed at a smaller company, Basecamp and Smartsheet worked well. It's been several years, but I'm not sure they would scale to enterprise. My current company implemented Workfront prior to my arrival, but I believe everyone is generally happy with the decision. Over time, we have updated processes and incorporated new features as they have become available.

Jira is mostly used as a bug locking tool or to track any new development for any specific region/EPIC. But Workfront has a lot of other features which are beneficial in project management. I still consider Jira and Workfront my top two options for project management and believe both have some of the other useful features which are required to manage any team.

Workfront is the first software of this type that I have used. I've used some other software that tracks time for projects and things of that nature, but it's not nearly on the same level as Workfront. Workfront is a much more fleshed out, and realized solution to our team needs.

My company uses Workfront because it's easy to use. Different employees can have different permissions to run reports. The exports are easy to download and share with others and data is easy to read when using for reporting purposes. It's a great tool overall!

I would find that feature-to-feature comparisons and extensive features put Workfront at the same class level as Workamajig. It may come down to preferences and UX of the platform that would make for the ultimate decision on which to go with for project management needs. Asana has a more simplified approach to project management and may work better for smaller teams, where Workfront can work for medium-sized companies that have multiple teams working on many different projects/tactics.

Workfront offers more features than lower cost options, allowing us to scale our business and not have to shift with each jump in headcount. it also provides more financial data support compared to simpler tools. It integrates into accounting software as well.

Best of all three really, the security features are also important for us as we work in an industry where PPI is used so making sure GDPR rules are adhered to is essential and Workfront allows us to do that.

I love that Workfront is easy to configure and change as your organization grows. It's easy to stay up to speed with and make changes based on system changes and your organization changing. I also am in love with the reporting and custom data features. Custom forms and the ability to manipulate them to get data has been invaluable in every organization I've been in to date that has used Workfront.
