AdRoll has been used by a few of our clients for a long time now, but I'm not sure it has ever proven as valuable as the other advertising platforms. We have continued to use it because it is inexpensive (and because it says it drives a lot of revenue), but it is a minimal investment and we do not actively manage it like we do other channels.

AdRoll is better than Taboola in that the ad creation process. I like how the ads have better retargeting than Taboola. Also, I can make the ads look more elegant and fit our brand more than Taboola. Adroll's analytics are also better than Taboola in my experience. Lastly, Tabool is relatively the same price as Taboola.

AdRoll makes display advertising very easy to use. You don't have to get into the Google Analytics platform to see the number of new users, add to cart, revenue, etc. It will provide data on cross-channel attribution. You can't do Google Ads, Google Shopping, or Microsoft Advertising on AdRoll, but AdRoll display ads is a great addition to these.

AdRoll is easier to navigate and get your ads up and running smoothly. It's nice to be able to upload your own design and see how it will look in real-time. Changing budgets, ad groups, etc. is quick and easy!

AdRoll helped me bypass google $50k lifetime spend to upload an email list to retarget my email list. And also helped combine stats from FB and Google and its partner in one place. But if you want more functionality or are heavy in ads, you might need to go directly to FB and google.

Adroll is slightly better than Criteo, in my opinion. Criteo, only does web ads right now, which is frustrating if you are also running social campaigns. Adroll continues to be a one stop shop for all advertising campaigns and is extremely convenient in that regard. Criteo works off of a PPC type of structure and Adroll charges per impression. Criteo would be more beneficial with that model.

You get much more quality traffic using Simpli.fi. It's very high quality leads and tends to have a very low rate of spam/junk traffic/leads. Their platform and support is much easier than AdRoll so I would recommend Simpli.fi more than AdRoll going forward. We'd moved a good amount of campaigns over to Simpli.fi instead of AdRoll.

Google Ads is our primary channel of advertising but we ran tests of our Dynamic Google retargeting vs Adroll and Adroll outperformed the Google retargeting. AdRoll was an easier process to get set up and start converting. We also found that the support from AdRoll outperformed the support Google offered.

AdRoll stacks up really well against other similar providers, as its main retargeting engine is unmatched in the marketplace. It is also super easy to use and intuitive to set up and manage ad campaigns at scale - as opposed to some other platforms that can get difficult to manage after a certain point. AdRoll client support is also excellent and quick to respond to any questions or concerns.

AdRoll has the ability to both utilize and customize ad creatives. Criteo forces customers to use their ad formatting and specs. quantcast only offers data in 30 day increments, ad roll allows for real time data analysis in a live dashboard that's easy to read, understand and export should you need to analyze in more detail.

While I haven't used some of the other similar competitors such as Criteo or AdTheorent, many of our clients have before switching over. Being able to go into the accounts and look at the data, the results we've witnessed have been subpar. One platform our agency has had extensive experience using, is the Google Display Network. GDN obviously is more of self serve, and several options for optimization, but being able to contain both Facebook and web standard + dynamic retargeting in one platform is a definite advantage.

AdRoll is perhaps the best for very small businesses (less the 50 employees), is the easiest to set-up and administer. Google Marketing I would rate the best overall tool - excels with future product direction, campaign management, and targeting. Criteo has perhaps the best retargeting tool, easy to use and administer. Criteo is best suited for larger mid-market companies with more complex ad campaigns. We initially selected AdRoll when we were initially starting up of B2C business and it was ideal. As our business has grown and become more complex requiring scale it became less useful.

AdRoll offers an easy campaign management system and with the ability to segment via website pages and audience targeting, AdRoll is superb for retargeting. Conversions can be set up in numerous ways and offer solid tracking/accountability. You also do not need to worry about tracking via Google Analytics (GA) as AdRoll as spot-on reporting and what you see in AdRoll does reflect nearly identical to what GA shows.

Adroll ends up being more costlier than alternatives offered from companies such as Google or Microsoft as you ultimately have a higher level of control on the budget, the platforms that your display banners are showing up on as well as the demographics. I would not choose Adroll again if given the chance as it was costly to execute without much return to show for it.

In some ways we've been looking at AdRoll as an alternative to running ads direct with Facebook. The biggest thing AdRoll has going for it is that their own network has reach beyond the Facebook ad network. It also provides a central place to run FB ads and display ads and see performance overall in one place.

It's very good for what it is, but it still misses some features that you get when you run on FB directly.

It seems to compare well to other DSP's/etc. though
