We use Ahrefs on a daily basis, to keep track of all our rankings, to create product descriptions that are SEO friendly and as a general guide for all our search engine optimization data. It is also very useful to optimize blog articles and to target specific keywords that have traffic volume.
  • The UR and DR Index are great to measure how the SEO efforts are playing out on a per page (or product) basis.
  • The keywords movement report is very useful as it helps to understand areas that need improvement.
  • I wish they included more than just the first 20 keyword rank positions in their basic monthly plan.
Ahrefs is a great tool to have a vision into what is happening and what can be done to improve the SEO rankings. I have tried other tools like SEMRush, but I find Ahrefs a lot easier to use and to make sense of the data. The SEO Toolbar is a wonderful tool as it allows a quickview into any webpage or search as I browse.

  • Ahrefs has been extremely useful in providing the necessary data to improve the organic traffic to the website.
  • The insight provided by Ahrefs regarding the keywords and phrases for creating blog posts is very useful.
The way Ahrefs presents the data collected is much more intuitive and easy to understand than the way SEMRush offers it.
The interface of Ahrefs is more user-friendly than the one from SEMRush. I can get lost in the way SEMRush presents the data, and their help guides are not as well written as the ones at Ahrefs.
So in general I give Ahrefs a 10/10 in user friendliness.
Their customer support is excellent, they address my concerns in a speedy manner. I have only contacted them by email, and I always get a reply or answer to my question a few hours or sooner after I send the request.
I am very happy with their customer service, I have no complaints.
Yes
We were using Semrush previously. I spent a few months on and off, trying to understand the Semrush interface and the data produced. I always found it was not easy to analyze it in order to get a useful picture that made sense into what was going on with our website.

  • Product Usability
  • Analyst Reports
Ahrefs presents the data in an easy to understand way that makes sense. When I do not understand, there is always a help menu on each of the reports that is very well written. There is also help videos that are to the point helping to understanding the data and results.
When I saw how easy it was to understand why certain words were ranking high and why other keywords were not, I was sold to getting Ahrefs.
I find there is a ton of options and applications you can choose when it comes to picking out a tool to analize your website, it takes time to try them and see if they make sense or if there is actionable data that you can work on right away. The only thing I learned after evaluating different apps is that if I can not understand and make sense of the data in the first 30 minutes, I should not waste any more time in it.
  • Keeping track of the external backlinks (new and lost)
  • Keeping track of the organic keaywords and their ranking on Google
  • The internal backlink analizer is good to have a general view, and identify problems but if you need to change a lot of redirects and internal linking, it is better to use another app, like Sitebulb or Screaming Frog.
This is a wonderful app to keep track of your website's health and positioning in your industry when it comes to Organic Search. It is also very helpful to compare and analyze your competitors and figure out what helps them rank giving you some ideas of what you need to do in order to increase your organic position.

Ahrefs Site Explorer is being used primarily by the SEO department to monitor and track backlinks for client and competitor websites. Ahrefs' web crawler provides a large amount of data including new/lost links, referring domains, and anchor text distribution to identify gaps or red flags for a website's inbound links. This large dataset is especially useful for off-site SEO audits, competitor analysis, and backlink cleanup.
  • Large data set of inbound links across a seemingly infinite set of websites and pages.
  • Intuitive interface and dashboard data that can be exported to a spreadsheet.
  • New/Lost link lists are typically inaccurate, making it hard to identify real trends vs. links that have just been discovered by Ahrefs.
  • Window for analysis of New/Lost links is limited, making it hard to discover historical trends within the online interface.
Ahrefs gives a good snapshot of inbound links, and has an incredibly large web index. This makes for quick identification of trends, but inaccuracy must always be considered within such a large dataset. When comparing other backlink tools, it's important to look into their process of discovering and indexing links to ensure that you get the most accurate picture for decision-making and strategy. In comparision to most other tools, Ahrefs link counts usually seem drastically inflated.
  • Ahrefs makes it easy to identify gaps for new-business pitches
  • Ahrefs has increased efficiency with competitor analysis.
  • Majestic SEO,Moz
Each of these tools has advantages over the other. Ahrefs link counts are often considerably higher than Moz or Majestic, which could be indicative of a larger web index or inaccuracy in filtering old links. Ultimately, we use all of these tools to be able to take advantage of the different proprietary analysis modules that they each offer.
Ahrefs recently became more expensive. While they offer a large web index of backlinks, some of the modules of analysis available in similar tools make them a better value in many respects. Ahrefs continues to update their interface, but the accuracy of link counts and new/lost data modules calls into question the validity of the provided information.
  • Backlink volume/rate analysis
  • Anchor text distribution analysis
  • Competitor analysis
  • New/lost link identification
  • in-depth link analysis
Ahrefs is very easy to use - you can jump right in and understand most of the assets. Overall, the dashboard snapshots give a very good picture of inbound link activity. For deeper analysis of historical trends, the system can become cumbersome, making it hard to do full work without exporting and reformatting the data.
