We use airSlate for contracts, to sign tax returns, and to collect and distribute payroll information from our clients and to our clients. Originally, the hope was to streamline the signature, document distribution and warehousing of contracts, tax returns, and payroll data. The challenge we encountered with airSlate had more to do with the learning curve than with anything else. We wanted to automate the payroll forms in particular and we just could not get it to reliably work for us in that way. Now we have a more stripped down approach to those documents that works for the most part and at least puts the data we need within reach of our team. It seems like every software company is now using descriptors like "workspace" for what they do, airSlate is no different. This is not well defined in the helps files neither is it clear when you're there in the app. You can create a workspace for every client but each a separately billed platform and there is no sorting to easily distribute between different types of documents. The distribution of users is also weak and uncustomizable. The only way to make it work for everyone is to make everyone an admin which defeats the purpose.
  • Contracts and signatures all in one place
  • Bot automation with a learning curve
  • Bot automation is not as easy to understand as represented
  • Each workspace is a separately billed space but there are no sub-workspaces
  • Actual customization of roles - Admin role is the best default for everyone in your team if you want to do less than "do everything for everyone".
If you or your staff understand bots well, this will probably work really well for a lot of things including signatures to document distribution. IF you understand it. If you don't have someone you can either rely on or pay to set that up for you as you hope for then expect to spend a lot of time setting up all of your documents the first time and also be prepared to be frustrated that everything that seems to make sense in one part does not work in the next. The excitement of being able to build one form for all employee forms in one pass just wouldn't work, especially if I had two places on the same form that asked for the same data bit from the input forms, such as the employee name on form i9. If you're like me, you can only spend so much time building a form that physically already exists before you lose the value of the airSlate digital version.
  • We now have a single place all employees can go to send and receive signatures and contracts for the business as a whole.
Because most of the users except Admin users are pretty limited. I would like to be able to allow an employee to send a 1040 signature request on my behalf but unless they are an Admin they cannot create the flow to do that...unless I'm sending the same 1040 multiple times to multiple people which makes no sense for that application.
Workspaces are basically all-in-one areas that cannot be used to efficiently sort or distribute information. I have 40 accounting clients and can't sort ANY of the documents I sent them by workspace so I have to go hunting for them. This makes this platform essentially JUST a signature collecting station and not one for more. The bot automation is also confusing. Everything I set up, even based on notes, MUST be reviewed by support because it never works right for me.
Adobe is extremely easy to use for forms that have to be built every time - like tax returns - even when it sometimes thinks every box needs data that is already there from the tax program. It requires no account creation or other hoops for the signer to complete a signature whereas airSlate does and I get the form in my inbox with step-by-step tracking of views, delegations, etc without having to build a bot for every tax return. airSlate is much better built for contracts and employee information forms because you can set up a form and when you send it to an employee or business it is unique to them even if you then have to coach them through creating the account to complete the signature.

Everything from admin and owners to file clerks and data entry.
1
The in-house support is me and it's not really supposed to need that.
  • Signing annual tax returns
  • Employee Payroll data including W4, i9, W9, Direct Deposit forms
  • Client Service Agreements between our company and our clients
  • To maintain a digital history of signatures and documents sent via airSlate
I give this rating because I am hopeful the functions I would like will be added in the near future.
The learning curve on bots is bigger than even the training suggests. I'm an otherwise intelligent and resourceful user with years of cloud and desktop application experience and EVERY time I use a bot I ALWAYS need support to make it work. Since it's the main selling point of the app, it makes sense it would be easier to learn or easier to understand without having to abandon flows I've already built that just aren't working for simpler versions that end up just being a workaround to what I anticipated.
  • Sending a signature request
  • Storing or downloading an already signed document
  • Providing access to other team members
  • Getting flows with bots to work
  • Signer only account creation just to sign a document
  • No way to handle duplicate information on the same form with a pre-filled form to one the bot fills out - i.e. the name on page 1 with another name box on page 2 of the pdf form.
Yes
It did not feel more user friendly.

We use it mainly for our onboarding and recruiting process to complete onboarding paperwork and employment applications.
  • Ease of use by applicant to fill out form.
  • Can export data to CSV.
  • Form fields are pretty customizable.
  • The editing of PDF functionality can be more robust.
  • Mass sending of slates, such as with QR code.
  • When making a change to a flow document with fields, not having to start completely over from scratch but being able to easily copy field settings to new flow.
It's great for your basic user and for the flow functionality. The form fields are very customizable.
It's not that great if your process is constantly changing as it is not easy to add pages to a current document. You have to upload an entirely new document and start the form fields from scratch.
  • Saved time and money in not having to print paper applications, scan them in the computer, and shred paper.
  • There used to be lines of people waiting as they completed paperwork in person. Now, they complete it at home and don't have to wait in line in person. It has improved our customer service ability.
  • We don't lose anyone's paperwork!
The bots and back-end work is very flexible.

Onboarding and recruiting - all HR personnel

Basic technical capability.
  • Employment application
  • Onboarding application
  • That's about it.
  • There is none that has been sustainable. We tried it for internal documents, but there were too many approvers that wouldn't do their part and it would break the process.
  • Internal documentation, such as separations, if it wasn't so confusing to set up and manage.
It's been working well for us.

Price. It was significantly cheaper than DocuSign.
I wouldn't change anything.
The online support chat system is not that great. The FAQ's are not usually helpful since I already know all of those things and I'm looking for something much more technical.
No. I can't remember being offered. Probably a price thing too if it was offered.
No
Yes, when we implemented the software.
It's great for those completing the application. It's easy to set up the flow. Once you get to the configuration and you want to add layers, bots, and approvers, then it gets complicated.
  • Editing documents.
  • Completing documents.
  • Creating slates.
  • Setting up back-end flows
  • Setting up bots
  • Changing documents within existing flow
Yes
It works great. Never had a problem. By interface, I am referring to candidates completing the application and not admin using airSlate to set up flows.

The airSlate platform provides a simple interface which enabled us to automate complex documentation processes in the Service Department. We currently use airSlate for filling out data sheets during instrument installations and preventive maintenance. By integrating airSlate and Salesforce, we are able to automatically include our completed datasheets in the Salesforce Case eliminating the need for extra manual steps by Field Service Engineers. This integration has the added benefit of prepopulating some of the form fields on the datasheets with Salesforce data specific to the customer account. Service Administrators can send datasheets to Service Engineers with the click of a button from within Salesforce.
  • The airSlate interface is very easy to use. Creating new forms or updating existing ones is way less challenging than other similar platforms.
  • airSlate integration with other platforms is straightforward and doesn't require special unique code.
  • The look and feel of the user interface is clean and inviting.
  • Although airSlate is constantly making improvements, I'd like to see additional features allowing a content creator to save formatting profiles.
  • Improved platform home page customizations would be helpful but not necessary.
  • The ability to set a password expiration time is needed but it's very possible this is addressed when using SSO.
airSlate is well suited for any scenario where content from a form needs to added to Salesforce or similar. It's also well suited for any form that requires a signature and/or initials.

airSlate is less appropriate if a form need to be filled out from a local drive. Although there are workarounds, airSlate is a web-based platform and is designed to be used in that way.
  • airSlate has improved the efficiency of our Service personnel by automating documentation tasks.
  • Implementing airSlate has reduced end-user documentation errors.
  • airSlate automatically ensures our Engineers are using the most up-to-date documentation.
While maintaining similar features as alternative products, airSlate is easier to use and less expensive. It is quicker to setup and creating new forms and workflows are easy with the help of built-in templates. I find the user interface friendly and well designed compared to other alternatives. airSlate provides way more flexibility to suit our needs than any alternative.
MadCap Software, Microsoft Office 2016 (discontinued), Snagit
I have reached out to airSlate support a number of times during setup and after. The platform includes a built-in support chat that is very convenient and fast. I'm able to get the answers I need is less time than it takes with any other software I use. And I don't need to pick up a phone or write an email and wait for a response. They support staff is very knowledgeable and accommodating.
It seems airSlate designers spent a significant amount of time ensuring the product is easy to use and appealing. They were able to accomplish this without sacrificing functionality and quality. The interface isn't cluttered and allows end-user to get going with minimal training. Designing workflows is a snap with the drag and drop "bots" (functions).

We are using airSlate as an end-to-end document handling solution. Early this year I tested several similar solutions to solve the problem of collecting a request form with multiple layers of feedback and approval required. airSlate was the best of the three I tested. Now data is collected for analysis and the completed form returns to the applicant.
  • Customer service is fast and skilled.
  • Product is easy for non-programmers to use straight from templates.
  • Cost is reasonable when compared to other comparable products.
  • Interface is clean.
  • Terminology within airSlate needs some interpretation.
  • Would like to see a wider assortment of widgets for use on forms and expanded HTML support.
  • They are a startup seeking funding which also means there are many requests, like this one, for customer feedback. I bought the product, that's the feedback.
We needed a product that had more power than Google Forms. This product is well suited to those looking for a deeper tool kit than the one that comes with Google Forms. Feeding the form back to the user and collecting user data in a central sheet were crucial for our needs. Any company with similar needs would find this a worthwhile product to explore. The integrations with Google Workspace, like Sheets, Mail and Calendar, were pivotal for us as well. There may be situations that demand higher security/authorisation that available here, but for our high school this tool works well.
  • Greater process transparency for all users.
  • Shorter turn-around time on form distribution and collection.
  • No separate data entry step means we can move straight to analysis - more time saved with greater insight.
Kissflow was overly complex and costly. Forms On Fire didn't seem to have the support we needed. We already subscribe to Adobe Sign, but was a hassle to figure out how to construct a cascading set of authorisations that pulled data from a sheet according to user input.
Best part of the product so far and has rescued our use more than once.
Starting with a template it is easy to see how parts of the workflow are connected and make changes that will customise the product for your own use case. In our situation, rather than starting from scratch, our form was working within hours of joining the trial version. Several hours of tweaks lead us to a form that is better than the tool it was replacing and we are saving real man-hours with a minimum investment of time and money. Service has been exceptional.

We are using airSlate as a workflow management and new-business-onboarding solution.
  • Scripting and content disclosures for customer service during implementation
  • Unlimited customization to suit any organization's needs
  • Integration with electronic signature capabilities suitable for any new client enrollment process
  • The mobile signing process needs improvement for more involved agreements with multiple signature locations
  • Dumbing down the html rules for those who would like to include rich text
  • Looking forward to improved page load times both while editing and creating and during actual use by team members and prospects
Onboarding a new client is the most important, the most expensive, and the most time consuming aspect of preparing a client for success.

Understanding that it is essential, a client is set up properly. From creating new contacts to billing, product preparation, and delivery, airSlate provides a solution that significantly reduces the likelihood of human error.
  • Preparation and pre-implementation testing was time consuming and sometimes frustrating--but full disclosure, we were involved during BETA.
  • Implementation however is virtually painless
  • Post-implementation peace of mind for management and the team is priceless.
Tallyfy is a wonderfully robust solution but airSlate further connected the dots for us with the full integration to the electronic signature aspect of our needs. I'm not sure where Tallyfy stands currently on that front.
They are invested in my success as a direct reflection of their own. This goes a long way toward creating a viable, long-term business relationship.
Certain aspects are somewhat complicated, but that is in some cases a direct reflection on the complication of the workflow being implemented--and their team is brilliant!
