I use it mainly for competitive intelligence, keeping up with how our competitors are viewed by analysts, and developing market comps. I use the transcribed earnings calls and accompanying broker research to maintain our own internal assessments of our competitors. Most of this information is available elsewhere, but AlphaSense brings it all together into one searchable database.

I could get most of the same info from other sources, but it's since to bring it all together in one place.
I have used GlobalData before. It has better info on drug pipelines but didn't have as much broker research and was much more expensive.

I used AlphaSense to support my work as an equity research associate. The platform and search algorithm were excellent and helped me browse through lots more content and data that I could have done on my own using Google, and more specifically, helped me locate or pinpoint exact details and/or data points within minutes, thanks to the amazing search function, which looks for similar words and bywords to what might be relevant in a search. The only small downside is not all PDF and powerpoint presentations stored on the platform are entirely legible, as their text and number conversion features sometimes cannot transcribe certain presentations perfectly, but I advised them that this was an issue when I was a user, and they were certainly receptive to my feedback and proceeded to correct it. I would absolutely recommend this platform to new users.
  • Broad macroeconomic research.
  • Specific company information.
  • Economic and/or political trends.
  • Presentation transcribing.
  • PDF viewer.
Great macroeconomic search functions and great browsing capability across large amounts of data and companies, both in the U.S. and internationally. Less appropriate for scientific issues or politics, I believe this platform targetting economic & public company-specific data and information. Great when you are looking for a term but cannot remember the exact definition or specific word used, as the search functions broaden it out.

  • Quicker search time.
  • Efficient data entry.
  • Added insight.
  • Broader content sources.
Very user-friendly search bar with great functions that enable you to search specifically for a word or broaden your search to various terms or bywords. It provides much better functionality than Google or Yahoo and enables users to broaden their content sources. It is a great tool for research purposes.
The platform's unique functions helped us search for company-specific data, as well as outside sources who mention a company in their news or filings, which helped us find good mentions and references. The platform also provided valuable market intelligence by allowing a wide search that would provide us with a broader number of sources.
AlphaSense gives users the most pertinent information and allows for custom search of industry-level, macroeconomic, as well as company-specific data, which optimizes the research and information gathering process.

Equity research analysts and associates use the product for research purposes, whether it is to look up information on existing coverage or to find new ideas. It is also used to find macroeconomic and industry level data which can be used to develop industry thought pieces or reports on the state of a given industry.

You need to understand the platform's different search features and functions, which enable quicker, more efficient searches. This requires people who are detail-oriented and have some knowledge of the research process.

Very useful and value added, cuts down the time to search for things, which in turns allows us to be more productive and make better use of our time. Would highly recommend this platform and its search engine for anyone in a research capacity, particularly in market-oriented positions or who deal with public companies.

I utilize AlphaSense to quickly and efficiently review publicly available documentation (call transcripts, SEC filings) as well as review Wall Street Analyst research. Their site navigation tools and overall interface are very helpful and easy to use. I also like their tools that help me find associated words that go beyond my specific keyword search.

  • User Interface
  • Sentiment Gauges (Hot, Cold).
  • Access to additional content.
To search publicly available documentation for keywords that help with competitive intelligence diligence. It's very good for targeted searches that produce relevant results. It's less appropriate for financial analysis (i.e., valuation model details, etc.). I wish it had this capability and was able to source XLS files. But overall, I think the functionality is great.

  • Better competitive insights.
  • Helpful to navigate a landscape/universe of opportunities.
  • Helpful organization of call transcripts.
  • Fast and efficient searches.
Very easy to understand user interface. Navigation is relatively quick and efficient, particularly for the site's capabilities.
AlphaSense is very effective at helping us scour public sources for any competitive intelligence updates. We have a lead program that is at the front of the competitive landscape, but much other biopharma is creating follow-on products to compete with our agents. It's good to keep track of any new publicly available information on other emerging programs.
Nasdaq IR Insight is clunky, inefficient, and incredibly un-user friendly. Strongly dislike it.
3
My coworkers that use AlphaSense are in Commercial / Forecasting or in Investor Relations / Corporate Affairs
I'm not sure I understand the question... we don't direcly have an in-house representative who manages our AlphaSense account or serves as on-staff support. We're a small/medium-sized biotech. I believe I am the primary account holder for our company.
  • Wall Street Research
  • Public document searches
  • Market intelligence
  • Competitive Intelligence
  • Macroeconomic news
  • Sentiment analyzer
  • Transcript review and intelligence
  • Country-specific analysis
  • Integrations and Notes
  • Public document repository (i.e., organize key reports)
AlphaSense is a very useful tool and is reasonably priced for our organization. While I may not be a hyper-active user, it's a great resource when I need to quickly do a competitive landscape survey, review publicly available documents (transcripts, etc.), or review Wall Street research
Yes
It's maybe not a direct alternative / comparator, but I review Bloomberg, Factset, CapIq, etc. These are all services I've used in the past. And while they have many different functions, they don't have the depth and rigor as a public document aggregator that AlphaSense does. So for AlphaSense's core competencies, I don't believe there's a better data service available.
  • Scalability
  • Ease of Use
Ease of use was very important to me. When you think of having to review large volumes of publicly available information quickly (e.g., the last 8 quarters of call transcripts), AlphaSense makes this very easy and digestible. And the accuracy of the search functionality is very important. Love how it finds related keywords and topics that further bolster the intelligence that I'm looking for. .
Not sure I would do anything differently. I am not aware of other services like AlphaSense, particularly those with such helpful data aggregation / intelligence. And other platforms that offer mass data aggregation and search aren't as sophisticated as the AlphaSense platform.
  • Implemented in-house
No
  • No issues - implementation was very seamless (at least from my vantage point)
I don't believe I was actively involved in the implementation of AlphaSense.
  • Online Training
Very helpful training. I believe it was less than 1-hour, and it felt very comprehensive. I felt confident in my ability to use the platform after the training.
The product's configuration is just right. An extensive amount of detail / functionality on the homepage, but it doesn't make site navigation or functionality suffer at all. Think it's a really well done interface.
I would suggest configuring the page much like an email / outlook page that's focused around search. At the top is a ribbon with sources that you can add/remove (+ other filter options), and the left side is a scroll option for exploring your dashboard (key companies/topics you follow, etc.).
No - we have not done any customization to the interface
No - we have not done any custom code
I did not, but I also didn't realize there was extensive customization available. I will look into this and explore additional ways to set up my platform for the greatest ease of use.
AlphaSense support is very helpful. I can contact my account manager and usually receive a response within 1-day. I've had my account manager change a few times, and it's always been a seamless transition. I don't know if AlphaSense has a live help function? But generally when I go through my account manager, they are very helpful in directing my inquiry.
I did not purchase premium support. At least I don't believe that's part of my account subscription.
No
Yes. I am often asked about the details of our subscription package from my finance team. This is usually for budgeting purposes. I know I've pestered the AlphaSense team with questions about my account multiple times in the past. They always respond promptly and help me understand our subscription details. Otherwise, I have not had a specific support issue on the platform (at least not that I can recall). It's a very easy to use tool.
  • Document search
  • Sentiment analyzer
  • Notes - not necessarily difficult, but a bit cluttered/crowded
Multiple functions within my organization utilize AlphaSense. It's a highly resourceful too for multiple different groups.
I have never had any issues with availability. The tool has always been very helpful when I've needed it to be, and I've never had outage issues. AlphaSense is also very forthright about upcoming outages for platform updates, but I don't recall this happening too many times.
I do wish load times were faster. Not to be impatient, but sometimes it takes a minute for a report to fully load. I sort of understand though, particularly with the vast library of documents that AlphaSense must aggregate. Our organization does not currently integrate AlphaSense into other software or systems. At least I am not aware of such integration. I only use the platform online.
Very readily available, very helpful and informative. All while not giving an arduous amount of unnecessary information. Too much functional instruction is often times too much to take in at once. And with a platform that has a good user interface, it's best to have the customer explore and come back with questions vs. a 2 hr tutorial (in my opinion).
Very helpful and readily available with questions. I do with there was an immediate helpdesk that was on call. Maybe there is, but we don't pay for that particular service offering.
Very professional and knowledgeable team. Easy to work with and communicates in a way that's helpful for users who aren't experts on the platform.
I believe it was mostly overall cost and # of seats. But I don't totally remember.
I believe this service is highly affordable for the value it creates. I think it is priced appropriately.
No real advice. Access to a 24-7 helpdesk would be great, but realize we may not have that as part of our subscription.

I use AlphaSense to obtain an overview and analyst opinions on different companies across various countries and industries. I also use the AlphaSense platform to obtain press releases and other official information about a company. The typical requirements or use cases seek the latest analyst views about a company that is published by various equity research firms.

Market analyst reports are a premium feature that can provide detailed analysis of a company and its forecasted earnings. Some of these analyst reports also assess the state of an industry in general and how this industry or sector is likely to evolve over the coming years. The critical use case that AlphaSense addresses is the need for business intelligence for a company or industry.
  • sorting content by source such as press releases and analyst views
  • highlighting keywords that are used for searching within the documents that appear in search results thereby preventing the need to go through the entire document
  • directly exporting tables and graphs from the documents to excel
  • quick filter by content source such as press release, research reports etc.
  • company rankings for an industry sorted by metrics such as P/E ratio, revenues, market capitalization, etc.
  • Displaying only the selected sectors and sub-sectors while filtering search results by industry
  • Prominently display the download or export document options in the dashboard
  • provide dedicated page or section to analyze a company's financial data such as quarterly or annual revenues
  • reverting to default interface before any options were selected
AlphaSense is an ideal platform when we want to perform a holistic analysis of a company by using various sources such as press releases or equity analyst views. AlphaSense is also useful for scenarios when we need a forecast or analysis of expected company performance or a business strategy a company is likely to follow in the immediate quarters or fiscal years. AlphaSense is ideal to use as a single location to access information about a company in order to obtain a comprehensive analysis.

Any search term that we enter is highlighted in the respective pages or areas of individual content such as press releases or analyst reports this helps users to quickly explore the relevant content.

I use AlphaSense to research topics pertinent to the project I am working on. During earnings prep, it's used to establish baselines and to research trends, topics of concern within the industry, and investor interests. AlphaSense is also helpful for surveillance on other biotech's positioning as well as what they may be saying about our company. The platform is heavily used as a monitor for recent news, filings, research, transcripts, and presentations which include topics we care about.
  • Search
  • Access to pertinent materials
  • Broad number of sources
  • Boolean search
  • Finds relevant content quickly within a document
  • Simple to use
  • Copy and paste function from information found can be difficult
  • Sentiment reader does not capture context very well
  • Managing watch list can be confusing
AlphaSense is well suited for pulling broker research, preparing for earnings, researching topics of interest, patent search and discovery, and competitor analysis. I use it regularly for information monitoring as an alert system. It's excellent for understanding a topic on a broad level and is less appropriate for a deep dive into highly complex topics.
  • Invaluable for understanding the capital market environment and the impact of particular messaging.
  • Deep competitive insights that boost confidence of management's strategic decisions
  • We make more informed decisions utilizing the broad content sources
I use AlphaSense every day. It's much less complicated than other platforms, more intuitive, and provides excellent tools to curate the information you actually need. AlphaSense changed the way I perform my responsibilities, made them easier to complete, and provided a more complete picture of the information and intelligence I require to be highly effective.
I use AlphaSense for daily monitoring of my company's competitive landscape, patent positioning, investor interests, and real-time news and research insights. The various types and a broad number of relevant sources make monitoring easier and faster. My team can understand and convey significant changes so that we react in a well-informed and complete manner.
AlphaSense has better search capabilities, is easier to understand, and the content is easier to read. Bloomberg's advantage is specifically capital markets oriented with their quote system and economic functionality. Even if I had a Bloomberg or Thomson Reuters, I'd use AlphaSense alongside. Thomson Reuters was a poor substitute and cumbersome for intelligence gathering.
