What is Altair Inspire?
Altair Inspire, developed by SolidThinking which was acquired by Altair, is software for Generative Design/Topology Optimization, and rapid simulation solution for design engineers. It is designed to enhance the concept development process by enabling simulation-driven design to increase a product’s efficiency, strength and manufacturability. This can lead to reduced costs, development time, material consumption, and product weight.

An excellent tool for our organization
The software is used to generate 3D simulations that allow evaluating the total feasibility of a product at a technical level. Plus this software is incredibly intuitive and really does provide a great finished product. The software runs relatively quickly and will usually throw an error right away, which is a nice feature.

Best motion simulation software for linear actuators or motors
We are a small company that designs and build products using actuator and motors. Some are simple where weight is not essential, and the forces are not high, so simple math and sketches will provide adequate product design information. Some of our products are very weight sensitive and have more complex movements and loading cases. These products demand to do finite element analysis before any building gets started. The problem we ran into in 1996 was defining the forces and force vectors to put into the FEA software to get usable results. Over the years, we have tried several different kinematic simulation software with marginal results.
