What can you say, Amazon is taking over the world. When Amazon is visited almost as much as Facebook and is competing with Google as a SEARCH ENGINE, It just got real. That's why we do Amazon Ads. We know that people are in a buying mood when they go there. I have multiple businesses so it allows me to log in once, get everything cued up and done. We have a haircare business that has products shipped all over the world. Until you have reach like Amazon, you don't know where your customer base really is.
We have 5 S-corp, so we use one interface for all and it makes everything simple and easy to control and make changes. Amazon shows the sponsored ads on and off Amazon to increase its reach, so we get incredible exposure.

  • Self Service Amazon ADs take some time to set up.
  • Making a custom AD can be a challenge.
  • Functionality of the platform has improved, but needs some tweaks.
Excellent experience once the ads are set up. I love that the ads will appear on different sites without any extra setup or hassle. They have been adding more formats and features over time, which has been great to experiment with. My ads are very versatile and appear in many places to get exposure. The pricing structures are steep. I have a competitor in Brazil who can beat me on price because I have to upcharge, but they don't. I get the lion share of sales just because I can offer 2-3 day Priority Shipping to the USA.
  • ROI is not what I would like it to be.
  • Brand is over-advertised by too many sellers.
  • No preference for USA sellers.
Optimization has come a long way, but it doesn't stack up well against Facebook Marketplace. I think it has a great market share and that there are plenty of people there ready to buy. Amazon adds legitimacy and trust to the process, but if there is ever a dispute, they always side with the customer, not the seller.
The cost/ROI is not where I would like it to be, but I can glimpse the improvements that have been made are making a difference. My expectation is that they will get to a place where the ROI has been adequately addressed. I think the sales have sharpened over the COVID nonsense since stores are shuttering. This has increased the market share for anyone advertising on Amazon.
