Apple iCloud is relied upon by users to securely store and backup their photos, videos, and other media files. This provides peace of mind for nomadic travelers and ensures data security for business endeavors. Business teams find value in iCloud as it serves as an additional data repository, automatically backing up media files like photos, mobile settings, calendars, and contacts. This ensures accessibility from any device and promotes collaboration within the team. The standout feature of iCloud is the ability to access documents, photos, music, and videos from any device, making it convenient for presentations and effective teamwork. It is particularly popular among all-Mac shops due to its seamless syncing and compatibility with various Mac and iOS apps. Additionally, iCloud facilitates the syncing of videos, photos, and documents across different Apple devices, allowing for easy editing and sharing. Organizations utilize iCloud for storage and synchronization of documents and applications on Apple devices, especially in fieldwork scenarios and BYOD environments. Individual users appreciate iCloud for its quick on-the-go backup of mobile files and the convenience of accessing files from any Apple device. In educational settings, iCloud enhances learning experiences by creating cloud backups of Apple applications, enabling students to access their documents from different devices.

Users have provided several recommendations for using Apple iCloud. The most common recommendations are as follows: Start with the small storage option to test compatibility, be fully invested in the Apple system for optimal use, consider pricing and multi-platform access when choosing a storage plan. Additionally, it is recommended to consistently back up devices, check compatibility with current device ecosystem, configure settings for automated backups, and be cautious with settings to avoid unintended consequences. Users emphasize that Apple iCloud is a reliable tool for keeping data safe and accessible but caution that iCloud Drive may not be suitable for non-Apple users.

Apple iCloud is used across the company when we desire to share files or folders we cannot normally share from our Microsoft Sharepoint drives. This is most often the case when sending to outsiders. We also use it to keep specific files with us on the go. iCloud is great because of its mobility and security.
  • Accessibility
  • Organization
  • Shareability
  • Customization lacking
  • Desktop organization
iCloud is well suited for simpler and more straightforward organization and file sharing practices. It is not well suited for anything more sophisticated than that due to the way it is designed and set up.

As we are a wholly Microsoft for education place, the vast majority of campus is on One Drive. However, our department is almost all on various Mac laptops/desktops and also iPads. Also, as most of us have iPhones, we're all using Apple iCloud in some capacity, so it makes sense for some things to be accessible on what we are already using.
  • Seamless backups
  • Pretty straightforward to use
  • Sharing files is very simple
  • Limited compared to the competition
  • A little more pricy than the competition
  • Web interface can use some work
If you only have a handful of files that need to be shared (like a Numbers spreadsheet), Apple iCloud is ideal if you are on Apple devices. It is not a good fit (especially for photos/DAM components) as the price is not very appealing compared to most competitors. Also, if you are only a web user, the interface can use some work for functionality.

We use Apple iCloud to support our Mac operations. However, it does not do all that Dropbox does, so we use Dropbox to share folders. Apple iCloud does not have the opportunity to share folders but to share files.
  • Stores Directly without doing anything else
  • Manages Photos
  • Manages Videos
  • Sharing Folders
  • Version Control with documents
  • Ability to decide what remains on the computer - This is a big issue
  • Fills up my hard drive when Dropbox does not
If you have a mac and lots of photos, iCloud is a must. Also, it works great in the full mac environment with all files. Apple has an excellent opportunity to make this the go-to cloud environment for both Mac and PC, and I would love to see it expand there

Apple iCloud allows our staff can access a document and edit live so that it doesn't have to be passed around via email, and we don't need to worry about saving the most up to date version or someone being unable to open it. In contrast, someone else has the document "locked for editing."
  • Document sharing
  • Portability
  • Photo sharing
  • Better access for non-mac users
  • Outlook calendar syncing
  • Better way of handling a large number of imported contacts
If your staff or organization uses Apple products heavily, especially iPhones, iPads, and Macbooks (or any combination of these), then Apple iCloud is very handy. If your company relies on PCs, then a service like Google or OneDrive will likely serve you better as Apple iCloud doesn't seem to perform as well for our departments that are not Mac-heavy.

  • We use Apple iCloud for staff devices to store and create cloud backups of Apple Applications.
  • We also are a 1 to 1 Pad district for many of our students, and we use Apple iCloud in our Middle Schools.
  • Students can easily access documents from their iPad, and the documents follow them if they have to use a different device.
  • Automatically store content from many common apps.
  • Easily set up managed accounts for students to use.
  • Apple provides well-written help documentation for all aspects of Apple iCloud.
  • I am not a fan of the Apple iCloud: Desktop & Documents in the cloud feature.
  • Content from some Apple Applications is challenging to move from one computer to another without the use of Apple iCloud.
For anyone who uses Apple devices, and in particular both OS X and IOS, Apple iCloud is a must. Backups are seamless, just set and forget. Access to documents from any of your devices dramatically enhances productivity. It is easy to add storage at a meager price, and also easy to downgrade your storage needs at any time if needed.

As far as I know, Apple iCloud is not necessarily used by an entire department or even across the whole organization, but more so on an individual basis. The majority of the individuals in the Corporate office use Apple's iCloud. iCloud allows me to store and sync my documents, pictures, etc... so that I can easily access them on any of my Apple devices, whether I am at home or at the office.
  • iCloud stores and syncs my photos, documents, music, etc... allowing me to access them from any of my Apple devices.
  • iClould gives the user the ability to locate lost equipment if need be.
  • iCloud is incredibly secure and backs up all of my files, which is great in case of a cyber security attack.
  • You have to buy additional storage if you run out of space, which can be somewhat frustrating.
iCloud gives me the ability to work anywhere as I can access all documents on any of my Apple devices. It's incredibly easy to set up and use and provides automatic device backups.

We use Apple iCloud for backing up our entire supply of corporate iPhones. It allows easy and convenient backup of phone data and documents. We use it to integrate, manage and classify various data, emails, phone calls, text messages, and documents.
  • Backing up data.
  • Easy and convenient backup of phone data and documents.
  • Integrate, manage and classify various data, emails, phone calls, text messages, and documents.
  • Price-point for the amount of data purchased.
  • Automatic reminders are too frequent.
  • The time required to re-upload backup.
I love how simple it is to have documets made in Pages and pictures from my phone synced to the cloud with little or no effort. So simple to move from one unit to the next.
A major dislike is the limited free space. I love how Google Drive allows photos at a certain size to be free. It would be nice if, when using an Apple program, those could be free too, like Pages. The other part that is difficult is when moving to a non-Apple system, this is not always simple.

Our org relies heavily on Dropbox for shared document collections, but most of the team members are Mac users, and iCloud's seamless file syncing between a single user's iOS MacOS devices has been a really useful addition to the mix. Most of us use iCloud to store and archive files created by compatible applications, then move things to Dropbox if they're "done" and need to be accessed by multiple team members.

In a few situations, we've used the collaborative authoring tools that Apple's free productivity apps provide (multiple users working on the same Keynote file in the leadup to a large meeting, for example).
  • Zero set up integration with Apple and many third-party apps.
  • MacOS and iOS document sharing is smooth to the point of being effortlessness.
  • Enough storage on the "free" tier that many team members can get by without an upgrade.
  • Weak to non-existent shared multi-user storage. i.e. "Here's a shared collection of presentations we all use".
  • Built-in iCloud support on an app-by-app basis is necessary to achieve "super seamless" workflow. Without that, it's just Apple's brand of a cloud-synced folder.
iCloud is at its best when a single user has multiple devices and uses the same apps on all or most of those devices. Keynote, Pages, IA Writer, MindNode, and other "fully integrated with iCloud" apps are great examples of how easy it can be.

It's less compelling when multiple users need a shared file repository — we just use Dropbox in that situation, and it's a good compliment.

It's also less valuable when the apps being used don't directly integrate with iCloud. The valuable cross-OS integration when switching from Mac to iOS and back is much clunkier in those situations. Kick the tires using the free iCloud features before depending too heavily on it.

I use Apple iCloud daily in my teaching to easily log into applications and websites. My students are young and they often have no memory of their usernames and passwords, let alone the knowledge of what they are for. Apple iCloud allows me to create logins for all of my students that are secure by suggesting passwords for new sites and applications. It also remembers these passwords and usernames for my students and auto fills them. I also love that frequent websites are saved. This saves me so much classroom time when I am trying to use iPads for a student project. It makes the process so much easier!
  • Username and password storage
  • Secure password suggestions
  • Safari browser memory
  • Difficult to set up the first time
  • Does not remember browser settings within google chrome (many websites function best with google chrome)
  • Works better on mobile
Apple iCloud is well-suited for people with many passwords who need an easy way to store them. Apple iCloud could improve its security, or at least how it informs its customers of security. If my Apple iCloud is hacked, then my passwords are available for anyone.

I used iCloud to sync personal data from apps that are supported in the OS X and iOS environments.
  • It's integrated into the operating system
  • It syncs in the background with out requiring my engagement
  • It is inexpensive
  • It does not play well with all vendors / apps.
  • It is one of many services that others do better - depending on what aspect you are talking about. For example, DropBox is a much more platform neutral product that works everywhere
  • It is difficult to share some information through iCloud with other parties - even though that is the intention. For example - sharing a spreadsheet or analysis in Numbers via a link to collaborate. The recipients rarely can access without creating an account unless they already use iCloud. Even then it may be awkward
How well suited it is depends on what the user's intent is. It also depends on what devices they use.

Just as we have used other cloud storage systems, we have used iCloud in our business to share documents without the need to use hard drives, flash drives, SD cards or an intranet connection. We mostly use iCloud in the graphic design department since we use Mac products for them and iCloud has an excellent compatibility with Mac IOS.
  • The ability to share any type of information easily and without any type of additional hardware.
  • You can synchronize every Apple product to keep all the information accessible, and since iPhones, iPads and Macs are really common devices this compatibility comes in really handy.
  • With iCloud backup, no document is going to get lost. If something is deleted from a device, you can retrieve it from iCloud
  • If you pay for a song to be downloaded from iTunes and then pay to store it in iCloud, it's like paying twice so it can be costly in comparison to other cloud software.
  • There has been several hacks to iCloud so security is always a concern.
  • It works better with Apple products. In business based on Windows there are some better options
I would recommend apple Icloud just to Apple users since the compatibility with iPhones, iPads and Macs is where iCloud shines. Apple iCloud is not appropriate in a business based in Windows operating systems. Sharing information without the need for additional hardware is excellent, and since graphic designers and IOS software programmers tend to work on Macs, businesses working in these areas would benefit more from iCloud that any other cloud drives.

I use it for back up of my documents because I have multiple iOS devices, iPhone, and iPad, which the standard cloud doesn't have enough space for. I am a paid user so I can back up documents and it's convenient because it integrates with other apps when I need to upload documents.
  • Always backed up, backs up automatically when you are on wife
  • Reliable, haven't lost a file yet
  • Relatively inexpensive
  • The look and feel is not particularly good looking
  • I feel like I am saving a lot in the root directory because of the layout
  • Annual billing at a discount instead of a monthly fee
It's great for iPhone and iPad backup, but I use other boxes for work, because of ease of use with the web interface, link sharing, etc.

It's primarily used to upload, share and store documents, photos, etc. It has provided us with a way to collaborate on projects while working across multiple locations. It improved upon our previous system that didn't work nearly as well. It also made training time easier, since many of us are iOS/Mac users and have already been familiar with iCloud.
  • Store documents and photos- I think this is pretty self-explanatory.
  • Allow for simpler collaboration- a few of us have started using Pages and Notes on iCloud.com to work on a few projects together. This isn't always as simple in Microsoft Office, I've found.
  • Set reminders- iCloud.com has the Reminders app that we've used as a quick, dirty system to remember to make calls or follow up with one another. It's cut down on the number of sticky notes on my desk and in my notebook.
  • The Notes app in iCloud.com lacks the same functionality as iOS/Mac, in that it doesn't recognize when you've inserted a table into a note.
  • Pages, Numbers, and Keynote aren't as up-to-date as their iOS and Mac counterparts.
  • The level of editability (adding colors, etc.) isn't there in iCloud Drive like it is with Google Drive.
It seems to work very well for small group collaboration much better than it does for larger groups or more complex projects. The other (minor) thing, is that while working across locations, there isn't a chat function, which would be huge when working on documents that work off info that others have. While at the same location, working on a small project iCloud works great for us. The other issue is that some of our Android users can't do some of the same things their colleagues using iOS can while on the go.

I use iCloud for personal devices as well as support our employees that use iCloud. It is not used by any particular department, but I support it on an individual basis for employees using Apple devices.
  • Excellent for notes keeping and accessing.
  • Great for backing up items and also syncing items that have been added.
  • Sharing Keynotes.
  • Good for tracking devices.
  • When a user is new to iCloud it is a bit difficult for them to get the hang of how it works. Could be less confusing.
  • The web access needs to be more robust.
  • Better support for other environments. Needs to "play better" with Windows.
  • Storage is pricey.
If you have an Apple device it is recommended. Backup and restoring of devices is its biggest asset. If you want to use it with other vendors' products (Microsoft, etc.) there are shortcomings. I know Microsoft and Google are competitors, but they need to learn to play well with others since many companies are based around Microsoft, Google, and Linux environments.

Apple iCloud is being used to store data such as documents, photos, notes, music on remote servers for download to other devices or operating systems like iOS, Apple or Windows. It is also being used to share and send data to other users and to manage Apple devices if stolen or lost in terms of recovery. It also provides a way to back up wirelessly and directly to the cloud.
  • Backup via wireless to the cloud through iTunes without suffering processing on the device.
  • Manages storage, and backup of the applications on the device. Run manual or automatic backups.
  • Data syncing center for email, contacts, calendars, bookmarks, note, reminders, documents, photos and other data.
  • iCloud contains other features like Find My Phone, Find My Friends.
  • Better iCloud Music Library, the iCloud music library should handle your whole music collection letting you listen to anything whenever, whether its part of your library or Apple music.
  • A more simple Apple Music navigation. This is a very unpleasant experience, ineffective menus and interface.
  • iCloud Voicemail.
  • iCloud Encryption. I'd like to see a more robust way of maintaining our data securely.
Overall iCloud does the job for data sync and managing. When you know your data is available anytime and anywhere there's that sense of relief, you know it's not getting lost.

I don't use Apple iCloud in a professional setting, but rather, I use it for personal reasons. It's a great way to back up my contacts, notes, and even important files that I have on Apple software like Keynote and Pages. If you use the same Apple ID and sync all your Apple products, these infographics all become very easily accessible across all of your devices, which is very convenient.
  • When you have information and files stored in Apple iCloud, you won't have to worry about losing the data in a physical device because now the data is available in a virtual space.
  • iCloud mail is very convenient and easy to use. For example, if you need to send out an image quickly from your iphone, you can just tap on the image and send it directly from iCloud.
  • Using iCloud allows you to gain access to information across different devices at any place anytime as long as you have your login information. This can definitely be super useful.
  • This is not a flaw of the software itself, but Apple iCloud gives you limited storage space for free.
  • I have yet to find a way to pick and choose the data I want to backup and leave the rest out so I can conserve storage space.
I think apps like Dropbox are more useful in a professional setting than Apple iCloud. I've only used Apple iCloud for personal reasons and I would recommend my colleagues to use it for personal data backup, but I'm not qualified to recommend it for work because I've never used it for work.

I'm using iCloud personally and I have been using Apple iCloud for over 4 years now and it has been awesome and amazing. It allows me to synchronize all my Apple devices and Macs. This is a great solution as a backup for all my devices.
  • Great back up solution
  • Gives you free storage and then you can pay for more storage at affordable prices
  • You will never lose your iPhone with Find my iPhone
  • Keep emails, contact, calendar and notes up to date with iCloud
  • A little bit confusing at the beginning
  • Photos are not accessible through the web
Of course it's useful if you have any Apple devices and would work perfectly if you have more than one device.

I do not use it at my organization. I only use it personally. It solves the problem of quick on the fly back up of mobile files when you do not have access to your personal computer. However I wish the settings were more robust. I would prefer a more manual process, rather than automatic backup as the storage gets filled rapidly.
  • It is automatic, no user action required.
  • It means you do not have to be connected to your PC.
  • The interface is visually appealing.
  • Storage space gets filled quickly.
  • When full, notifications will appear abundantly, which can be annoying.
  • No settings for manual configuration.
It is well suited for a city photographer or urban writer quickly jotting down information and backing it up. No worry of losing your precious vacation photos by accidental damage as long as you are connected to internet. Connecting the phone to a PC can be cumbersome as iTunes has spotty performance on Windows based devices. iCloud eliminates the need to connect your phone as often to a computer.

  • It backs up your data in the background so that you do not have to worry about manually backing up data.

  • iCloud is easy to access from multiple platforms.
  • I have no idea how this data storage and backing up system works. I'm unsure how to access it, and it doesn't seem to hold much data.
  • I'm not sure where my information is backed up to.

I personally use iCloud because I am the benefits administrator and a number of my vendors have apps that can be accessed via a smart phone. I also check my work email and have documents on my phone. A number of office positions in our company are in the same situation. I feel like it provides an extra layer of security.
  • iCloud is an excellent service that provides automatic backups of iOS devices and also syncing for photos, music, calendar, contacts, and documents.
  • iCloud syncs images across your iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Windows PC.
  • iCloud works with Macs, Windows PCs, and iOS devices and it automatically backups data for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
  • With iCloud there is no web interface for photos or music.
  • iCloud features for different functions such as photos can be confusing to set up.
  • You can't just upload any and all files. You need other storage solutions to work in conjunction with the iCloud.

I've used Apple iCloud primarily for personal use - photos, calendars, and notes. It's been very effective at getting new mobile devices up to speed. The Find iPhone/Mac is also a lifesaver - devices sync their location with iCloud, so you can see its last broadcast location if the device is lost. Apple is aggressive about promoting their iCloud services, and while it's easy to run over quota, it's a fair value if you enjoy the convenience of having your data accessible anywhere, anytime. I'll likely continue to use at least one Apple product, so iCloud continues to provide value on a daily basis.
  • Syncs frequently accessed types of information
  • Intuitive out-of-the-box configuration
  • Find my device feature tying GPS data into the mix
  • Turning off the feature / customization is difficult to find
  • More visibility into iCloud syncing process
Apple iCould is useful. The standard settings cover most use cases. It helps with device migration, accessing critical information on the fly, or finding a misplaced device. It is not meant for team collaboration or to share with others, so there are limitations in those functionality trees. Additional space is available for purchase - great that Apple offers a free tier to customers.
