Our company has a section of servers that are off the main network and not reachable from our main site. We have a group of servers where we had issues with backup/recovery and security since they were not protected by the main network. The Arcserve appliance was purchased to provide all those things for that group.
  • All in one spot for backup, restore, and security for off site locations.
  • Well priced for the large swathe of features it provides.
  • Low learning curve for administrators.
  • More robust cyber security feature set needed.
  • Less downtime during bug and patch fixes.
  • Support is not always well versed in the product.
We use Cisco and Commvault at our main site for backup and security, but we needed a solution for a remote site with none of those options available. We have put it as an all in one solution and it has worked out perfectly. If a colleague in a similar situation needed a solution like us, I would highly recommend this.
  • Increased costs due to having duplicates of functions we have at the main site.
  • Less complex than having to put full enterprise servers for these functions.
  • Effort saved in having all-in-one versus single systems.
