Articulate 360 has gained popularity as a reliable alternative to the Adobe suite, reducing users' reliance on multiple software tools. Customers have found value in its comprehensive suite, utilizing various tools like Studio, Replay, Storyline, Rise, Peek, and Preso for e-learning development. The software has been widely adopted across different sectors ranging from K-12 education school districts to large customer service organizations. It is used for a multitude of purposes such as ongoing training, onboarding and development of internal corporate employees, and creating SCORM learning modules on compliance, leadership training, product knowledge, and soft skills.

Instructional designers recommend Articulate 360 for its speed and ease of use, particularly with tools like Rise and Review. The ability to efficiently gather feedback within courses is also a standout feature that allows learners to make comments directly within the course and track them at the slide and layer level. Additionally, the software's integration capabilities make it easy to package webinars into on-demand formats and implement components onto websites. Users appreciate Articulate 360's mobile device support, collaboration through Review, and the extensive Content Library available for creating well-designed e-learning solutions. While occasional crashes have been reported by some users attributed to compatibility and memory issues with their computers, overall, Articulate 360 streamlines the e-learning development process and makes client reviews efficient.

Users have provided several recommendations for Articulate 360 based on their experiences with the program. The three most common recommendations are as follows:

  1. Try the trial version and watch tutorial videos: Many users suggest taking advantage of the trial period and watching tutorial videos to assess the capabilities of Articulate 360. This allows users to get a feel for the platform and its quality before committing to a subscription.

  2. Start with Articulate Rise for easier course development: Several reviewers recommend starting with Articulate Rise for simpler course development. They find it easier to use and appreciate its flexibility and responsiveness in creating web-based training and robust e-learning content.

  3. Join the online community and explore all the available resources: Users highly recommend joining the online community for Articulate 360. This provides access to valuable resources, trainings, and free webinars that can enhance one's understanding of the program and help maximize its potential.

Overall, users find Articulate 360 to be a powerful program worth the investment. It is considered easier to use than its competitors, especially for creating engaging presentations, high-quality e-learning content, and interactive materials. The collaboration and administrative functions are also praised for their convenience. However, some users note that it may not meet all classroom and educator needs, so it is recommended to evaluate if the full suite of Articulate 360 is necessary before subscribing. Additionally, users suggest keeping an eye out for improvements in Storyline 360 and new content or functions in Rise. While there may be a few bugs that need to be worked out, Articulate 360 is regarded as the best tool on the market for rapid e-learning development, offering an integrated solution that streamlines training development processes.

We have purchased this software to use for our e-learning modules. We create specific courses and do not outsource any of our e-learning.
This software allows us to create engaging and interactive courses that even our employees that are computer challenged can take and succeed using.
  • It is a program that is going to be kept up to date and the user will automatically have updates available.
  • It has some graphic capabilities that are extra in Articulate's other programs.
  • It has some new fast development tools that will assist with creating mobile training. (Our company currently doesn't have any plans for mobile-based training.)
  • provides lots of graphics including video that saves a lot of money for small businesses
  • Annual Cost. Most commercial software is going this direction, so it is to be expected. It allows the user to have new updates quickly, but can be a budget buster for small organizations.
  • Annual cost is still a problem
The program pushes and tries to get everyone to use RISE, but it doesn't allow for narration like 360 and when you have a number of employees that have English as a second language, narration is invaluable. I hope that they make that change in updates to Rise
  • SCORM publishing
  • Graphic
  • Ease of use
  • support group
  • When you have to create e-learning modules that may only have 5 users it is important that you can create in-house since outsourcing or purchasing is cost prohibitive.
With the older version of Captivate, do not like the learning curve. Articulate 360 eliminates that obstacle. I love Storyline and Storyline 2. I used Articulate Studio for several years, and it is very good for someone that knows PowerPoint, or wants to convert PowerPoint slides into e-learning with out any "fuss".

Although we do not have others that specifically support Articulate created courses, we have over 200 employees that at any point might assist with video, operational incites, and serve as subject matter experts.
  • Ease of use
  • Training modules and Materials including on-line live courses
  • Complete system
  • The fact that the software automatically converts courses so that they can be viewed on any device has made for special assistance. Our employees usually only take on PC, but now without changes they can use cell phones or tablets if they do not have access to a PC.
  • We also have used it to drive in class sessions rather than PowerPoint.
It works for us.
Yes
Other versions of Articulate Storyline, and Old Captivate material.
  • Product Features
  • Product Usability
  • Prior Experience with the Product
We delayed in upgrading to 360 from Storyline 3 due to the cost of renewal. Once we made the decision, we were all in. Price because of annual renewal is still an issue, but the features make it a valuable upgrade. We purchased a two-year subscription to save money. The product usability is special
I don't think I would change anything.
  • Implemented in-house
Yes
It was considering we upgraded with each new version. We started with Articulate that works within PowerPoint and then we had Storyline 1, 2, and 3.
Change management was minimal
  • We really did not have any...
It is pretty straight forward and easy to implement is you are already creating eLearning. If you have old courses created in other versions of Articulate I recommend you update them to the new version even though it is not necessary (especially From Storyline3 to 360) but if you don't you may find difficulty opening and keeping things straight.
Live chat is ok, bit there are times when I would like phone communication at the start, rather than them calling me it is eventually meets their requirements.
It is included in 360. We had purchased it for our old Storyline 3.
They have come on my computer when there was a "snag" in the system working. It would crash repeatedly. They went into the "background" of my computer and deleted some items in the system that allowed this problem to be corrected.
It is easy to use, and they provide excellent step by step training materials and even live seminars for important topics.
  • Adding graphics
  • Putting in things such as a users name that you can then use throughout the course
  • Tests
  • Inserting and understanding how to input a java script for a function that is not built in. I do not write Java, and so this is a little stressful for me.

We use Articulate 360 pretty much every day at 4pt. It enables us to deliver well-designed eLearning solutions to our customers. For complex interactions we use Storyline, where we can really flex our creativity and build engaging learning interactions. When the content is more simple, or where budget is more of a consideration, we use Rise. Rise allows us to turn around projects more quickly.
  • Industry standard software with fantastic community support.
  • Suitable for creating both complex and simple interactions.
  • Widely used, so provides peace of mind to our customers, giving them the security that they can easily find another vendor should they wish.
  • I'd like to see improved global styling options in Rise. For example, changing font size and colour across an entire module would be a massive time-saver.
  • Reverse page transitions would be a nice to have addition to Storyline. For example, if a user clicks to view the previous slide, the transition would animate to look as though the page was moving back, instead of forward.
  • The addition of a fully customisable colour palette that carries through globally to Rise would be welcomed.
I'd highly recommend Articulate 360 products to anyone looking to develop eLearning content. It is suitable for relative beginners but is powerful enough for professional users to create very engaging interactions. Articulate 360 can be used to create learning materials with a wide reach. THis reach was beneficial to organisations during the pandemic, and is still being leveraged now as companies opt for a blended learning approach to their solutions.
  • SCORM-compliant publishing options
  • Multi-device compatible output
  • Flexibility to enable creation of creative learning solutions
  • Articulate 360 is our primary eLearning authoring tool at the moment. Meaning we have not had to invest in any other tools recently.
  • The amount of business we gain through using Articulate 360 significantly outweighs the cost.
  • Articulate 360 enables us to reach overseas markets due to its localisation features.
I have worked extensively in Adobe Captivate and found it to be much more of a challenge than Articulate 360. The learning curve is greater in Captivate and I found that far more steps and workarounds were required to create comparable interactions than in Articulate products. I would not recommend Captivate for the casual user.

  • Creation of creative demos to showcase products and services
  • Creation of sales demos

  • Creation of a virtual hospital
  • Integrate chatbots in to courses

  • Interactive videos
Articulate 360 is an essential tool in our organisation's workflow. The money that we make through its use, far outweighs the cost of renewing our licenses. Articulate 360 has exposed us to new clients that we may not have otherwise encountered if we did not subscribe to the Articulate services.
Yes
Previously, we used to use Adobe Flash, which became obsolete, leaving a gap in our offering. We also used Adobe Captivate, but the time required to produce even basic interactions meant that it wasn't a viable solution, due to the pace at which we're required to work for our clients.
  • Product Features
  • Product Usability
The most important factor in our decision to purchase Articulate 360, was that it publishes to the versions of SCORM that our clients insist upon. Without this feature, our clients would not be able to deploy their learning materials via their learning management systems, which is how they reach their global audiences.
If we were evaluating and selecting elearning authoring tools again, factors I would consider more would be how easy it is to localise learning materials, and how the workflow fits in with translation services. Also, how easy it is to recreate elaborate designs using the native feature set of the software, vs what needs to be created in thrid party software.
  • Implemented in-house
No
  • File sharing
Ensuring that multiple users control the versions they're working on is important, as you cannot check Storyline files in and out.
I have always found the support of staff and the wider Articulate community to be excellent. Staff are active on forums and on the occasions I have submitted a ticket the technical support team have endeavored to help me out in a timely manner. The community support is unparalleled, with a very active user cohort who are always willing to share their advice.
I did not purchase premium support. Because I am a heavy user of the software, I did not think it would provide any value to me or my organisation. Many of the problems I am likely to face when using Articulate software, can be resolved with the help of the community forums.
Yes
Yes, I have reported bugs on more than one occasion. Whenever I have reported a bug, it has been investigated and if it is a genuine bug, the software engineers have worked quickly to resolve it. Reporting bugs is easy and you always seem to get a reply from the support team.
There was a new feature set released for Articulate Rise 360 recently. When the features were added to Rise, they had some unwanted effects on existing courses that users had created previously. When the bugs were reported, I was listened to and the features were modified the same day to remove the unwanted effects.
Overall I can't fault Articulate 360. Sure, there are always enhancements that an individual user would like to see introduced, but generally speaking the usability is second to none. Articulate 360 offers something for users of all levels. It can be friendly enough not to turn off novices, but has enough about it to keep the professional coming back for more.
  • Creating drag and drop interactions
  • Creating multiple choice quizzes
  • Publishing to web or SCORM formats
  • Selecting custom colours is difficult in Rise 360
  • Localistions in Rise 360 are made more difficult by needing to export multiple xliff files, rather than a single xliff file from your master course.
