Atera's pay-per-technician pricing just made sense for us. They don't nickel-and-dime either. NinjaOne, by contrast, was over twice as expensive to start out, but they wanted to charge extra just for a ticketing system and many other things.

NinjaOne is a great platform but is simple overall versus Atera. Atera is so feature rich that it can be overwhelming at times but is worth the learning curve. Take time to go through the onboarding, reading the help articles, and even reaching out to support directly through the platform and you will make the most of all features.

Atera pulls the best features from the above systems I have previous experience in and unites them in an All-in-one solution that simplifies and improves everyone's experience.

Atera was the clear winner for us. The interface and tools were very easy to learn and setup. Atera's licensing incorporates good feature sets and value levels.

Some of the other products were difficult to setup and lacked good flow between tools. The value proposition was also not as good.

In comparing Atera with similar products I've used or evaluated, like SolarWinds, ConnectWise, and Kaseya, Atera stands out for its user-friendly interface and cost-effectiveness. While SolarWinds offers robust features, it can be overwhelming and pricey for smaller setups. ConnectWise excels in customization, but its complexity isn't always necessary for straightforward IT tasks. Kaseya is another strong contender, particularly in automation, but Atera's simplicity and integrated approach give it an edge, especially in multi-school environments like ours. The decision to choose Atera was driven by its balance of comprehensive features, ease of use, and affordability, making it well-suited to our diverse and dynamic IT management needs.

Atera was more cost effective, easy to deploy and had all the features and tools we needed. It's still a little rough around the edges but we can work around those considering its a fraction of the cost compared to others.

This Year I started an IT company and was in need of monitoring and PSA software. In the past I've worked with Datto, Datto RMM and Ncentral so one of these would be a logical choice for me to choose. However their pricing is from a different world. For a starting company, price is obviously an important part of the decision to be made. So I tried N-able N-sight, Syncro and Atera. The price of these products was almost the same. Never worked with them before.N-Sight is RMM only. N-able has a different product for ticketing (MSP Manager) which I did not test. I liked the interface of N-sight but it was not that intuitive. N-Sight has all kinds of monitoring templates for different server types: domain controllers, sql servers, hyper-V servers etc which are really useful. You can apply a template to a server and the things which are specific for a given server role are monitored. However with the additional MSP manager needed for PSA, N-sight would become too expensive at that given time. Syncro and Atera are both "all in one". RMM and PSA together and they come at almost the same price point. In terms of functionality I think Syncro and Atera are close. Some things are better in Atera and some better in Synco. The interface of Syncro I did not like. it's a bit confusing. Where do I have to go ? The first time I opened the product I felt really lost.Eventually I choose to go for Atera because I liked the interface and workflow. There is proper documentation of all the features and it was the company who was most open regarding pricing. Furthermore I liked the appearance so I decided to give it a try.

We looked at NinjaOne and ConnectWise Automate which are both fantastic tools. Those options definitely have their strengths over Atera, but Atera was the one we chose in the end. The thing that drew us to Atera was the lack of complicated contracts and simple tech based billing. We don't need to worry about contract renewals and if we add more agents it's not an issue since it is based on the number of techs you have. I wish there was a "View Only" account for non-technical managers\stakeholders to be able to view everything, but there are reports for that.

Before installing Atera, we were using a third party to assist us with administration of devices, protection, etc. The cost was exorbitant, and the service was deplorable. What I received was gobbledy-gook and dozens of fancy graphs. brain overload. TMI. When I described to them the scenario I was working in, They actually recommended Atera. That is the only actionable and worthwhile bit of information I received from them.

Connectwise is great, no question. But for smaller companies like us, having a technician cost vs a per device cost was the tipping point. We can add as many devices as we want without having to pay for each one. Sometimes when onboarding a new client this can be a huge perk, you might add systems that are going to be quickly retired once you get a lay of the land. Having no extra cost for that, frees you up to analyze every nook & cranny of a network. This has been huge for us.

ManageEngine is used in some of our outlying locations, and it was just not an enjoyable experience. The interface was confusing and not intuitive. It took more time to figure out how to get something accomplished in ManageEngine to even start helping someone, whereas with Atera it was very easy to just jump right in and get problems resolved.

I did like NinjaOne user interface but the price was a lot and the implementation of how it does Windows Updates was not ideal. Pricing would have gotten way up there for the number of endpoints I needed to load up initially. N-able was good with the Apple computer integrations but the UI felt a bit old school with lots of panes and menus. Also, pricing was higher in comparison.

Atera competes well with other RMM competitors, lacking primarily in patch management. I was constantly fighting to get my Windows updates out there, and had a couple of troublesome systems where I had to manually install patches from Microsoft Catalog due to WU being brain dead. Competing products don't seem to rely on WU to work. The software we switched to will patch my most problematic Windows Server 2016 system that WU doesn't work with at all, where Atera wouldn't touch it.

Any RMM that supports licensing around agents / technicians rather than devices is always a win in my mind. Primarily Atera was chosen due to the specific features it provides (we didn't need a lot of bells and whistles) and did what it needed to do, well. Remote access, patch management and scripting were all heavily used. Some other products make some of these things convoluted whereas Atera made things simple.

When we originally started doing more IT work, we tried Zoho Desk. There wee a ton of great functions but we were smaller and it didn't really fit what we did on a day-to-day basis. Zoho Desk's reporting was more advanced but out clients didn't really need that level of information. Atera is much more suitable to the size of our team and the type of work we need to do for our clients. If we performed more complex tasks tasks and had a larger team, maybe Zoho would have been a better fit. However, Atera works perfectly for our size team and what we do each day.

I have a love hate relationship with Kaseya in two different companies. Kaseya is clunky, unreliable, and feels like trying to navigate my customers systems through an excel sheet, with most of its functionality not being reliable. Also, the way they managed the breach was ridiculous, and the product came back worse than it was before, and we used the SaaS version that was not compromised.

Atera is exactly what I expect a modern-day MSP toolset to look like. I would probably use this for internal IT as well.

Atera has many of the same features as the other products we've tested. The selling point for us was the pricing model for Atera. Most other providers charged a fee per endpoint which could quickly add up. With Atera's pricing model, we have a fixed annual cost which is lower compared to most other similar products.

Atera is lightyears ahead of what we were using with Bitrix24. I say not to bash Bitrix24 because they provided me with the processes I needed at the time. However, one of the major benefits I have with Atera is their ever-growing partnerships with other IT vendors that MSPs love to use. They integrate right into Atera and allow me to add services with the click of a button or, worst case, by running a script that installs the service on the users' devices.
