Being the only person in the IT dept currently, it is important that I be able to streamline everything I can. Atera lets me act as multiple people with it's scripting and monitoring engines. I need to know about problems before they become a larger issue for the users. Additionally, the AI features allow me to complete tasks faster than I would have been able to otherwise.
  • Support, if you need them they are there and they always have the answers you need.
  • The AI scripting features allow you to really hit the ground running. You can give it a prompt and it will give you a script that will be very close to what you need. All you have to do is polish it up and test it out.
  • I love having the ability to use multiple remote access tools, in the event a machine has an issue with one of them, or if a cloud service goes down, you have a fallback.
  • The shared script library is an amazing resource for troubleshooting and streamlining.
  • The development teams are open to adding features and have done so frequently based on user requests.
  • The ticketing feature is usable, but still needs improvement. The inability to attach a user to multiple machines is, in my opinion, a questionable design choice. You are able to attach multiple users to a single machine though.
  • The AI features are a great starting point but frequently miss the mark on giving you a fully working script that you can just deploy. You will always need to test and troubleshoot them.
  • I think the shared script library is a mess of incomplete and poorly documented scripts.
Having come from an MSP in the past and now being a single IT person for a company, I can say that some features that MSPs are looking for, are missing. The product is amazing but is lacking some features. The value is great since they are on a per tech billing option instead of a per machine. To it makes a lot of sense for internal IT departments, but the value is still there for an MSP.

  • Onboarding was a breeze. Completed myself in about a week with some support requests. Very easy to get configured how you want it up front.
  • Atera is a force multiplier, I am able to act as a team by leveraging automation and scripting to fix issues before the user notices them.
  • There are some quirks in the interface that require you to jump through hoops to get what you need done.
Atera is dead simple to use. Anyone that has even a mild technical background can use and administer the system. All of the features are laid out logically and are easy to find and use. The scripting interface is easy to use and intuitive. The AI features in the scripting interface are really easy to understand and dive into.
It is nice to be able to have everything under one roof so to speak. At my MSP position previously we had many tools that forced you to jump back and forth between windows and tabs, there were always issues with the integration connectors, huge wastes of time. The ticketing system is lacking some features, but that is more of a headache than a show stopper.
We looked at NinjaOne and ConnectWise Automate which are both fantastic tools. Those options definitely have their strengths over Atera, but Atera was the one we chose in the end. The thing that drew us to Atera was the lack of complicated contracts and simple tech based billing. We don't need to worry about contract renewals and if we add more agents it's not an issue since it is based on the number of techs you have. I wish there was a "View Only" account for non-technical managers\stakeholders to be able to view everything, but there are reports for that.

Single man IT dept and I need to be able to work without fighting my tools. Additionally I need to be able to use them regardless of where I am and I didn't want to worry about hosting infrastructure to run them. Atera checked all of the boxes for our requirements.
I would have deployed Atera to a number of users instead of testing it solo, but would still likely have chosen Atera over the other options.

After testing almost all of the "bigger" named RMMs on the market, Atera is hands down the best for the way that my workflow is set up. They get a lot of things right with simple layouts, a great search bar that you can type anything into, and very easy to understand advanced functionality such as scripts and reports. The database of shared scripts is amazing and you can add your own cool scripts to the pool if you have something useful. The price is also very competitive for the one man shop that I am and allows me to scale up without feeling like I'm missing out on and features from other RMMs. Support is VERY responsive if you're having an issue and their feature board is a way to implement the exact features that users of their software want, so they really do listen to feedback. If I had to bring up a con, the mobile app is a little barebones and I find myself almost never using it but they do plan to continue to add functionality to it. Overall I'm extremely happy with using them to grow my business.
  • Atera and user submitted database of scripts you can easily deploy
  • k.i.s.s. approach to the UI and UX
  • Continuously updating the platform every 2 weeks
  • Mobile app is missing a lot of functionality compared to the web UI
  • Email alerts can be a bit overwhelming without dialing in thresholds of metrics being reported
  • Mac agent still is a bit weird at times but it has greatly improved from the start of my using Atera
Atera is amazing for any one man or woman IT person who has a decent-sized computer fleet to manage but does not have an infinite budget to pay for all of those endpoints at the prices other RMMs charge on a per-device basis. Also, the team feels smaller and more connected to its customers.

  • Mass updating clients has turned from an all weekend ordeal to pushing a single Run now button and verifying all updates completed
  • Always being able to connect to a computer even if it's headless is another massive game changer
  • Being able to generate reports of offices for company inventory
Atera is a joy to open up and see what is going on with my clients. As a single user managing some 500 machines at the moment, automation is key to keeping my sanity and customers happy so being able to manage tasks with ease is a must and Atera delivers on that need.
I have yet to fully utilize the PSA and billing aspects of Atera but do use the remote access and RMM extensively. I've begun to explore the other functions to see if I can do everything in Atera going forward but still have to get out of my old manual ways.
I did like NinjaOne user interface but the price was a lot and the implementation of how it does Windows Updates was not ideal. Pricing would have gotten way up there for the number of endpoints I needed to load up initially. N-able was good with the Apple computer integrations but the UI felt a bit old school with lots of panes and menus. Also, pricing was higher in comparison.

I would do it the same exact way of starting with Atera, trying out other systems, hating them, canceling them and promising Atera to never doubt her again.

We have our techs using Atera. It is our main RMM tool--we push Windows and some third-party updates, use remote PowerShell, remote control with Splashtop, package installs via Chocolatey, a shared script library, and more. We use the built-in help desk and it gets us by but it would be nice to have some other features. We love the Splashtop integration; we even purchased a separate SOS license and can now use it from the dashboard.
  • Pricing--pay per tech, not by agent
  • Remote control with Splashtop integration
  • Shared script library updated by other users
  • Chocolatey integration for installing apps, and you can make packages for group installs
  • File transfer without needing to interrupt the user
  • Have backup building options with Acronis
  • Built-in AV with Bitdefender, Webroot
  • Helpdesk needs more features, like field selections
  • AD and Exchange integrations would be nice
  • HyperV and VMware support to manage VMs remotely
Atera excels for a solo shop or a small team trying to manage a large number of machines at the right price. No matter how many machines you want to manage, the price is the same each month. The RMM features are the bread and butter of the product but the PSA side is slowly catching up. Great when you have those customers who "don't want to pay each month" but still call you each month needing help--you can install an agent and not be charged.

  • Cost effective for the amount of techs vs managed computers
  • Learning curve is tiny, which saved a lot of training time
  • Setting up and onboarding a new customer has been made detailed but quick, saving us time and money
We started with Pulseway and loved the features but quickly realized the cost was going to be more than we could invest. Atera is billed on a per-tech and not a per-device basis. This is much more cost effective for our model and saves a lot of money. Also, with the Splashtop integration, we are able to use the remote access on not just Windows, like Pulseway, but also Mac and Linux. Pulseway has just recently released an HTML5 remote session but it is still nowhere close to the one integrated to Atera. Atera also has the PSA side included in the price, unlike Pulseway's add-on price, and Atera includes a help desk.
The easy of use and simple approach to adding a customer has helped in streamlining our onboarding process and saved our tech valuable time. We are able to set up specific alerts per client, making important alerts into a ticket automatically or manually, schedule a script to run to solve the problem, close the ticket, and bill the customer--all without the tech clicking a mouse.
We use the Atera RMM platform multiple times a day for things like remote controlling desktops, running scripts, monitoring devices, and more. Having the PSA attached to the platform is useful in that we do not need to go to another portal to get customer data, quotes, billing, or tickets.

Our tech, engineer, and marketing all use Atera. We are working on migrating our sales team--inside and outside--to move over along with the rest of the marketing team. This allows us to have a single resource to view all of our customer data without having to bounce around between many different softwares.

The help desk is the biggest use, along with patching and installing software. We manage about 18 customers at the moment and would be lost without it. Being a mostly break-fix, project based company, we usually can't bill the customer for the yearly cost of an RMM tool on all we manage, so having the Atera billing model fits us best. Moving the sales team over is the next task.
  • Remote support

  • Device and server monitoring
  • Remote software installation/removal

  • Script onboarding processes
  • Creating problem-solution resolution without tech intervention
  • Monitoring network devices
  • Scheduling Tickets/ Quote alerts
  • Engaging the PSA side of the app
  • Reselling the app
As of right now, we have found nothing that can offer as many features as Atera does along with the affordability. They are doing monthly releases each month and not just making small changes (shared scripting library, chocolatey support, Install packages, Splashtop SOS support, Scheduled tickets to name a few). The uptimes are great and accessibility to the dashboard has yet to be limited. We are a happy customer and bordering on fanboy status now.
Yes
TeamViewer- Many many more features and still has a great remote tool. The ability to add as many agents we need without any extra charge. Also cheaper than just TeamViewer alone.

Pulseway - Pricing was a big factor but also has a lot more flexibility and features that we didn't get with Pulseway.

Can't speak enough about the Pricing model and the ability to add agents as needed without any new charges. This has given our team a lot of flexibility and helped us sign new customers by installing the agent (with permission) and then running reports at the end of the month to so the customer our value all with no extra cost to our company. If they don't sign we uninstall and walk away.
I would recommend testing 1 product at a time and not trying to do 3-4. Maybe 2 at a time would be manageable and you could spend the time needed to give a good test. We almost chose a different product because we did not do a good job testing the software.
