Atlassian Confluence is more convenient and reliable than Salesforce Community Cloud. Also,
I prefer it over others because of its enhanced interface that makes my working
faster and efficient by providing a bundle of options and features as well. It is all in one solution to all my problems.

I used Lotus Notes many years ago and Atlassian Confluence reminds me of that - ugly and functional. We use Atlassian Confluence because we use JIRA. I doubt anyone would select Atlassian Confluence if they didn't also use JIRA. I've looked at Basecamp and it has a better feeling to it though JIRA Core and Service Desk are excellent tools so I can't imagine throwing them out for something pretty that might have limitations.

Atlassian Confluence is a simpler platform than Microsoft SharePoint, which is good and bad. It is much easier to use and has less overhead than SharePoint, which makes it ideal for quick documentation and sharing knowledge. If more advanced features and document sharing are required, then we utilize SharePoint instead. Atlassian Confluence is more suited toward a wiki type of documentation.

JIRA works seamlessly with Confluence, allowing for even more streamlined communication. You can add linked VCP numbers straight to your page on Confluence, and it can be directly linked to the JIRA ticket. I highly recommend using both together. Confluence is best for communication while JIRA is essential in project tracking. The two go hand-in-hand.

Atlassian Confluence is extremely customizable with
great API integration with a vast array of addons. Great for collaboration between
DevOPS and CloudOPS teams. Better structured workflow processes and real-time software
release tracking.

  • HCL Connections (formerly from IBM)
IBM Connections tried to be what Confluence IS - but failed miserably at it. As a knowledge management platform, it was terrible because information went in, but never came out. We used to have a saying that Connections is where information went to die simply because you could never find it again!

Confluence is better than Connections in every way, as it leverages its sister solutions in the suite for easy linking and access. Confluence search is excellent too, so its easy to find that page you're looking for.

I am a smart sheet user but I utilize smart sheet for very different projects. I do believe smart sheet has much of the same functionality but I would use it in a very different way. Confluence has more of a web-based dialogue feel, where smart sheet is web-based but still has a very spreadsheet look and feel.

SharePoint is used at my org as the main place to document projects and store other docs. While Confluence does not have the same check out functions for Word and Excel it is a living document and can do the same type of things. Also it is much easier and cleaner to look at.

As we are using an Atlassian package, it fits in our stack, which helps us make our development faster and more trackable. There are lots of reason to select Atlassian Confluence is that it fits well in our stack and it is very useful and handy tool to use. I am not sure how it would fit with some other open source tools but for documentation it is very good.

We were using MS SharePoint which was integrated with TFS for managing our developer workflow and it was quite clunky. We had to be signed into the VPN to access any of it and it relied upon Internet Explorer for access. It felt slow and sometimes you could use other browsers and sometimes you couldn't. We have also moved to VSTS, Confluence, and TestRail; and things are much more usable and better documented.

  1. Atlassian marketing will jump on this right away.
  2. When search on google about others not much details but for confluence too wide result is available.
  3. It's an enterprise level tool, the support and community are excellent.
  4. Atlassian, who are highly successful, run their entire business through Confluence.
  5. Confluence talks to other systems relatively easily.

SharePoint is great, I use it and I love it. Confluence is a lot like SharePoint with a more modern look and a fancy suit. If you have the skills for implementation, it is great and developers will enjoy it more.

We used to use shared spreadsheets but that was not very efficient due to frequent locking of files and getting them corrupted. Confluence is by far a more user-friendly and efficient solution for sharing information.
