  • The ability to cross link information in the company is priceless, but in my experience the complicated permission structure means that a lot of that information is put where the user has permissions instead of the location. In my opinion, the search is awful so a lot of that information will never be found again. It is a real mixed bag.

  • Positive impact - We were able to re-organize our entire ticket management by pushing 100% of the work from Slack into Atlassian Confluence
  • Positive impact - Document collaboration has allowed better cross functional work
  • Negative impact - When Atlassian Confluence is down, there is no "offline" version to continue working without interruption

  • We've gone from folders and folders of Word documents and PDFs into a single system with a search feature to bring all of our data together and trackable
  • While onboarding took a bit longer for the company (to switch from a Word document centric mindset - to a web-based one), overall the company has embraced the features and power of Confluence within the working stack
  • However, as costs continue to climb for the Atlassian product, we are forced to continue our evaluation of the product - with replacing it a remote possibility if it begins to outprice its usefulness to us.

  • Confluence was originally planned to be our go-to collaborative workspace; while it is useful, it doesn't match the real time collaboration and advanced features of G Suite, Office 365 or DropBox which we also use
  • Because it is relatively inexpensive it has been positively positioned as our internal WIKI, SOP repository, etc etc.
  • Its inexpensive versatility has also rendered it beneficial for new employee training and historical documentation
